I love everything Emotiva, unfortunately I live in Canada and the exchange rate, shipping and duty only allows me to buy from them every 6 years or so. You should do a comparison between this and the RMC

Nice, thorough review, especially the comparison to the Denon receiver, since that cements my decision many years back to opt for separates...😊. I've been contemplating upgrading to Atmos with an Emotiva processor, eother the XMC2 or the RMC1L and in consideration of my room layout, am able to add two front Atmos speakers that would be mounted up on the side walls directly above the front mains at a height of about 9 feet. My current 4 surround speakers are mounted about 8 feet up on the side walls, once again due to the room layout. I would want to experiment with 5.3.4 vs. 7.3.2. The side surrounds are 90 degrees on the side walls from the listening position and the rears are about 7 feet back from those. I've enjoyed my JBL SDP-40 pre-pro for 20 years and it was over $10k retail and have maxed out its potential. It's just not so easy to retire the unit that has served me well... Keep up the good work!

Just got my XMC 2 running.. using XPA 5 amp. I have to turn volume to pass mid line.. like around 30 before I can hear a descent sound and I have the loudness option on. Is this normal for this processor ? Thanks.

I tried the RMC-1, I really tried, too many bugs. I was going to downgrade to the XMC-2, I ended up going with a different MFR for processor.

I have seen that the XMC2 do not have a 7.1 Multichannel Pre Input. I have a Multiplayer and i want to hear SACD and DVD-A. Is this still possible with the the XMC2 ?

For the 4400, did you have Dynamic EQ on? That tends to turn the surrounds up way high.

I ❤️ Emotiva, but only for their amps. I've heard too many (imo) things gone wrong(bugs)with their processors. I went Anthem 70 8K with TW AD-8300 for my center & 6 heights & XPA-6. I had a 9.2.6, but it was too much downgraded to a 7.2.6

The processors are trash. I'm currently trying to get sound from it even with the latest firmware installed I get a picture but no sound. And this is fresh out the box. I'm sooo upset. The emotiva xmc-2 is pure garbage.

​@@seldom_seen8713Seems to be a common occurence, sadly. Was this ever resolved for your unit, or did you just return it? If you went with a different processor, which one? Thx I've been toying with the idea of upgrading to Atmos, but my 20 year old JBL SDP-40 (>$10k retail) still is doing the job for up to Dolby True HD and DTS Master Audio, and all the bugs of this Emotiva is a major concern.

⁠@@jarvisN10280Can’t speak on the Anthem, but currently I have the Onkyo RZ50, 2 Emotiva Basx power amps, and 1 Emotiva mini flex amp. The RZ50 sounds great but I have been having problems with it. Dealing with the blue screen error, and can’t access the main menu after set up. This is my second one. When it works, it does good. I have to turn it up and run it between 50-65 db to get good sound on most things I watch. I am going to return it and try the Emotiva MR1.

Have the ub42O, switch to ub9000. Love it. Love the hrd optimiser. Saw magnetar was going out. But 4000 canadian plys 15% tax. Compare to $ with tax was luxury. Wish it had mkv. Panasonic flag ship flaw is their high end audio bla bla they speak about . Its a pain in the butt. There is no real video out there how to truly use it. Plus try to swich back and from vidoo to audio.

Emotiva processors are thought to be very buggy by those who have them. In your experience, is it still stable?

@@HomeTheaterHobbyist while two restarts may not seem to be insurmountable, I’ve found these come at inopportune times. Perhaps I have been pleased by stability and consistency with my prior and current products. That said, emotiva has always intrigued me

only thing i do not like is that it has no unbalanced outputs !! balanced are good but not really needed for most home theaters! runs are not that long so it wont hurt the sound output! now if the amps are set in another section of the room some 10 to 15 ft. away yeah it might be needed but otherwise not so much!

Did you spring for the processor? Emotiva sells short XLR to RCA cables for like $8. I'm seriously considering the XMC2 and would order four of them because I'm using my old Denon receiver to power my two subs and a small stereo amp to power by two sets of under-couch butt kickers, both of which have only RCA inputs. Ordering the XMC2 now and them opting for the upgrade when the new one comes out this year seems to be a sensible move. I thought I had kicked the home theater upgrade compulsion, but, alas, I've apparently failed. LOL Happy listening.

You have no idea! I went from unbalanced to balanced on my Marantz av8805 and it was and still is a night/day difference!

If Dirac Live is dependant on the internet being on all the time then it's not really a feature, it's a liability.

It doesn't require internet to be on all the time. Once you have run dirac live when it's all connected up. You up load it to XMC 2 directly than you can unplug everything.
