+Daniel A Yes it was. Originally, the movie was titled, Kingdom of the Sun, and it was supposed to be directed by Roger Allers, who co-directed The Lion King. The story was pretty much based on the prince and the pauper, and Yzma's original motivation was to summon Supai, the God of death, so she could block out the sun and regain her youth. Also, Pacha was the pauper in question, who falls in love with a girl who is set to marry the emperor. This happens while Pacha was pretending to be the emperor. They still had Eartha Kitt and David Spade, but Pacha was originally voiced by Owen Wilson, and Kuzco was originally named Manco. Sting (lead singer of the Police, and British pop star) was asked to write songs for the film, which he did, but once the entire story had changed into what it is now, most of his songs had to be cut, and only appeared on the soundtrack. The heads at Disney threatened to cancel the project altogether, and then Roger Allers quit, and then Mark Dindal stepped in and took over as a director, and it became the comedy we know it as today. Yeah as you can see, the development of this film was just a debacle, not to mention they were so convinced that because Allers did so well with the Lion King, that he would strike gold twice.

I think it's because people just assumed by the trailer for the movie that it's just a regular old Disney movie and didn't go to see it. But then maybe rented it as a DVD (or streamed it or whatever) and bought the DVD because it was so funny. I was lucky enough to see it in the theater and me and my friend howled with laughter throughout.

Me and four buddies saw this in the theater, and there were only 3 other ppl in the theater - all guys too. We were all laughing hysterically (to tears) throughout the entire movie! That day is burned in my memory forever! I love this movie!

***** Idk, its the way I hear it. I know how its spelled though, thank you for clearing up the obvious lol in America there is more than one region. America has mixed cultures and mixed heritages. You cannot define America as messing up the English language, you cannot simply mess up something that has been constantly evolving. England doesn't use all the same words they used hundreds of years ago... America has always been a very diverse country, were weren't founded on one "type" of people. The South (South Carolina, Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Texas...) pronounces words differently than for say, the North West (Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana...) where we use more "proper" English. People in South Dakota actually tend to have very Canadian and German sounding dialects because a lot of German families and Canadian families live there. I have never been to Australia, so I dont know if they have different ways of speaking in each region, but we do in America.
