An Aussie here these fish will almost double the size in tank than in the wild with the females being the bigger 5inchs

I love mine. He lives with Angels, a Discus, a Pearl Gourami, Plecos and red tail gudgeons. I live near Searys Creek Australia. I'm going to try find some in the wild. Thanks Dan.

I'm from Australia and they survive lower then high 60s I catch them all year round in a river that in winter gets below 10 degrees Celsius and 65 f is 18 degrees Celsius so they can definitely tolerate most places in outdoor ponds and in heats of 32 degrees Celsius remember our Australian summers get like 40 degrees Celsius and higher everyday the past few weeks has been minimum 37 degrees Celsius I just went camping and seen a bunch of them out in the day when it was 45 degrees Celsius

Beautiful. Would either of these live with my Dwarf Cichlids? 🇬🇧
@DansFish Жыл бұрын
I THINK they would be just fine with dwarf cichlids, but I've never tried it, so I could be wrong.

I was thinking of keeping Gobies - Gudgeon's & Blenny's together rather than with Dwarf Cichlids as I love all 3. What do you think? 🇬🇧
@DansFish11 ай бұрын
Depends on the type of gobies. I don't really have experience with blennies, so I can't comment on that species.
@DavidJHarrisonEssex11 ай бұрын
@DansFish I've only had one type. Why do you say 'depends'? Because of the Gobie or the other fish?

I have one of these who is the sole survivor of a nuked tank from years ago. I asked the shop for a male, but at full growth now, I'm fairly certain it's a female (no nuchal hump, never any color. Would neither develop, though, in the absence of a female?). I'm looking to make a new community tank for it (her?), but I don't know if I want a male Empire anymore. Does anybody know how Empires and Peacocks get along together? I'm assuming they can't interbreed, but would a male Peacock and a female Empire still enjoy each other's company? Or would they not feel any affinity to each other at all? Conversely, if this is just an understimulated male, would a male Peacock and he get along? Would they stimulate each other? I looked around a lot, but only found info on one or the other, never about co-mingling.

This is a code I want to crack. I'd love to take this on as a breeding project.... Soon I hope.

I just received my order from you and they all arrived alive and healthy. I’m kind of a novice in the hobby but i’m going to try my best to crack the code🤘🏻 if you have any literature to suggest on them I’d appreciate it!
@DansFish5 ай бұрын
Congrats on getting these fish...once they mature a bit, they are going to be spectacular. I wish I could give you literature suggestions, but not a lot has been written about these guys from a hobbyist point of view. There are scientific papers readily available on Google if that is your jam.

Hi! Do all males develop nuchal hump?
@DansFish Жыл бұрын
All the one's I've had long enough have gotten it. It it does seem to take some time for it to develop.

Interesting how the males have reflective eyes like that but the females appear to have 'normal' ones.
