I own this bass in brown burst. I use it wtih my tribute band to Iggy Pop and I find that his tone, either with fingers or a pick, fits well in every tune. Recently I mounted ernie ball flatwounds 050-105 and the playability increased significantly. I think is a good choice to reach vintage tones with a "budget" bass

I'm with you on using picks, not as good as I should be but getting there. That bass sounds very good but I haven't heard good things about the 3 point bridge. Thanks Anthony!

You can't anchor your thumb to the pickup when you do the pickup sinks into the body and messes with the tone.

I haven't had any issues with the Gibson bridge on my basses. It is a floating bridge in the sense that the three points need to be adjusted evenly. The top point can have the bridge angled up or down, whichever works best.

This thing almost sounds like you have a pedal on, character is right.. It has some serious midrange growl, compression lets you articulate more. I think it's not hitting me in the midsection like a Fender, not until you scooped the mids out. I do prefer the scooped tone coming from my amp, I adjust midrange on my bass usually.

I'm a guitarist who would like to have a bass hanging around for fun, this seems like the perfect bass for a les paul fanboy like myself. I was considering one of those SG basses but was turned off by the extreme neck dive problem, does this bass suffer from that as well?

I use a thick leather strap w all my basses. Besides, it will only dive to about parallel, so I strap it high, and it's comfortable for me to play.

@@snapfinger1 The SG Bass doesn't come close to the REAL Jack Bruce EB3, unfortunately. The real MB pup had 30K windings. To put things in perspective a P-bass has about 10K and a MM under 9K. The T-Bird Plus has less. This is actually what is used in the SG bass. It's not a true Sidewinder, which was so big that to make it fit it had to be put in sideways to fit.
