The one thing I have always done (financial industry) with my employees is treat them like clients when it comes to confidential information. If someone calls off, no other employees need to know why. If someone has an issue, nobody needs to know what it is. Just as you would not share client info with another client, same goes for your employees. It is a need-to-know basis and what is between you an individuals is not ever other team members' knowledge. Respect employee privacy the same you respect client privacy.

My director not only told my coworkers about my upcoming surgery and my personal issues, she also told some of the residents who live in the facility. Also there has been a particular coworker whodoes things deliberately to harass me and the director had been told about it. What can I do?

I would strongly think NO! But check with HR or local law.

What if a manager tells someone who will soon be a manager about a employees background then that soon to be manager tells other employees?? The "victim " works hard and so far isnt being treated differently but has found out what is being said about them??!!

@@LeadershipwithMike Well they mentioned talking to the person who hired them that was very recently fired and no one knows why. A very hard worker who ran the business when the owner is on vacation. Its very odd hearing about this. Nothing makes sense. Maybe the fired person can answer some questions. I will try to be there when this happens but the "victim " isnt sure if they should reach out.
