My first drawing was sitting at my desk at work. I drew a plastic box full of colored paper clips- in #2 pencil- just enjoyed the shapes and colors and i still remember the mesmerizing relaxing experience. Turned out great- no goal no pressure- almost like the actual object when i looked at it when i was done- still like drawing like that.🎉

I think this is really good advice. Trying out what you can do on your own is like taking inventory of what you already have. And I believe nobody really starts from zero, we all have played with making marks on a medium before and learned something from that.

As an absolute beginner, I'm worried I'll pick up the bad or wrong habits if I just start drawing without any guidance

Once you’ve started, you’ll be able to make more helpful choices about what drawing advice will help you. It’s not as if all the guidance’ won’t be contradictory. Have confidence in your discernment as a starting point. 😀

@@stephentraversart Thanks for your reply. I started and got bogged down by sheer number of drawing videos and tutorials. I guess I should just focus on drawing
