The old Jobcentre was built sometime in the 90’s. I had applied for promotion to be the business manager there in the late 90’s. Didn’t get it though. It is possibly still under lease to the DWP and just mothballed as surplus to requirements as the need for the number of large Jobcentre buildings decreased with the introduction of Universal Credit and government cutbacks.

I wonder how much of it is developers who hoped Blackpool would get the casino (from a few years ago,) and have held onto them waiting for a better return? The Central Station development will hopefully lead to them being sold off or redeveloped. I personally think any building bought and left to rot should have the owners forced to maintain it to a decent standard (even if it's just to paint the outside,) or the council can take posession.
