Another good video Steve, pity that some of these buildings will probably be bought by property developers and converted into apartments at sky high rents that locals won't be able to afford

Just returned from a 3 day trip. I've always loved this place, but what I saw behind the prom was shocking. Constant fighting, even in the afternoons, parents screaming at their kids, feral teens everywhere, deprivation is sad to see. Won't be going back

I'm shocked as to how much the back streets just off the promenade have become with derilict buildings, boarded up guest Houses and hotels almost everywhere you look. The back streets used to be thriving with holiday makers and locals but now they are deserted as many people including myself stick to the prom because they find them intimidating especially at night

@@briansmyth4633 same here. Not just at night. We stayed in a b and b behind the prom and it was like a ghetto. There were fights , arguments and people walking around like zombies even in the morning. Sad to see.

The old Jobcentre was built sometime in the 90’s. I had applied for promotion to be the business manager there in the late 90’s. Didn’t get it though. It is possibly still under lease to the DWP and just mothballed as surplus to requirements as the need for the number of large Jobcentre buildings decreased with the introduction of Universal Credit and government cutbacks.

Combined the loss of income to the council from the other derelict properties and old hotels and guest houses this must be substantial.

I wonder how much of it is developers who hoped Blackpool would get the casino (from a few years ago,) and have held onto them waiting for a better return? The Central Station development will hopefully lead to them being sold off or redeveloped. I personally think any building bought and left to rot should have the owners forced to maintain it to a decent standard (even if it's just to paint the outside,) or the council can take posession.

I'm wondering about the need for new, big hotels in Blackpool when there's plenty of accommodation there already. I would worry that the arrival of cheaper chains (like the Premier Inn,) will make it tougher for the smaller guest houses to survive and force them into becoming "HMO's" with several tenants permanently residing instead of visitors and the impact of local services like doctors/schools etc...

It's embarrassing places like Blackpool exist in 2022. The old post office sums it up. A grand old building that should be the focal point of the town all empty and derelict and some red phone boxes that haven't seen a phone in years and are just a box for people to piss in. Typical Britain 2022, looks great from a distance but up close you realise it's just a dump.

This country has become a playground for vandals I loathe graffiti and litter strewn streets. It's all depressing. I expect many more drunken nights will blur the edges for those seeking solace in the rowdy bars and grab your money joints. It is not exactly classy in UK any more often now referred to as YUK. I live in my bubble of nostalgia but grieve in silence when confronted by cold, stark reality. Its a barren prospect for future kind all concrete blocks and soulless mass produced clinical furnishings.
