Many thanks indeed to Sally for lending me this tape! This is the last Emu episode I'll be uploading for a little while, but more _will_ follow. With that in mind, if you have any recordings of Rod/Emu/Grotbags shows - particularly Emu's World series 1 (the non-Corona series) and the 1985 live series, but anything at all, really - please drop an e-mail to my username (above, beginning Videot...) at gmail dot com, and I'll arrange for them to be transferred to DVD at absolutely no cost to you. (Tapes will be returned, of course.)

Are there anymore series 1 episodes of All live?
@VideotapeFTW7 жыл бұрын
The 1984 series? The first four are on my channel, episode five evidently didn't happen (kzbin.info/www/bejne/pYqbZZl5eruiZsk), and we're still searching for episodes six and seven. Hopefully they'll turn up soon - *someone* must have a copy!

I live in Canada and i didn't get to see this show as a kid. so I'm watching all the pink windmill episodes now. I think my favorite pink windmill kid was Emma.

It's absolutely wonderful to hear that the Pink Windmill is finding a new audience all these years later! (And, yes, Emma was one of the stalwarts of the show. Always brilliant.)

Between both Redford and Croc in their first scene. Now that's what I call improvisation at it's finest.

Pat Coombs was so good that she showed up in Boggle's Kingdom a year later: kzbin.info/www/bejne/maK7oYyXbNqepdUm57s

Claire Davenport who played the German lady in Boogles Kingdom was also in a few Pink Panther films as a cleaner and of course she was also in Fawlty Towers in The Germans episode who argued about the fire drill. Oh and 1 of the women drivers in On The Buses who ironically starred alongside Pat Coombs

Was different without Carol as Grotbags. On the other hand Pat Coombs another comedy legend in her own way done a decent job. Unlike Grotbags she was more laid back

You know, I just realized, how do people from Japan, china, Italy, and now apparently Germany keep getting into boggles kingdom with that magical screen and what not? Do they have the power of imagination or witchcraft like in that one emu special?
@VideotapeFTW2 жыл бұрын
Haha - they never even attempted to explain that! My favourite theory is that every country has its own time bubble stuck in the Tudor era, and they're somehow connected to each other but not the outside world.

Was this replacement really a last minute thing? Crocs and Redford handled the situation so well that if someone said that this episode was pre-recorded I would totally agree Haha We got a new witch in town! Nice job, Ms. Coombs, is not easy stepping into Grot's shoes but you did shine. The Spin Quiz was messy in both attempts of the game and I guess this was the second kid who didn't spin the wheel and won the consolation prize instead. And this PE video of Rod and Emu I guess it was the most unfunny of all, so far - And probably it won't be other quite bad as this. So far, this series has been the less energetic and my least favorite among the live era. But I equally love every Post Office segment... I'm definitely not ready to see Joe leaving the show, even though I can't decide which one of the kids from the previous series was my favorite (cause they all so talented), he does adds so much to the show while singing, dancing, presenting or whatever, he's the full package. Side note: I always saw the thumbnail for this episode and thought Redford's eyes was shiny golden Haha guess I was wrong.

No-one really seems to remember when or why exactly Pat Coombs was called in, and it also breaks the logic of whether they did two episodes this week or just one, and whether this was broadcast live or not. But, yes, Croc and Redford keep it all moving perfectly smoothly and everyone gets through it just fine. What a weird turn of events.

@@VideotapeFTW Right. it's a shame no one knows exactly what happened, but it's all well, they were under the "magical mysterious" spell of the Pink Windmill... Even when everything could go wrong, everything always turns out to be fine. It amazes me how they survived the live era without any disaster, mid 80's. Cast and crew where too professional and committed and this is simply beautiful Haha

@@Struwwelpeter In a strange way, I think Rod thrived on the chaos, and it's partly what makes it such compelling viewing. I mean, it always feels like everything could fall apart at any moment, and yet it never does.

I don't understand how Amy won that contest. She and the boy were still fumbling with the puzzle, while Rachel was already done with it.

Yep, absolute travesty - no way did Amy win that. Once we've finished tracking down all the episodes, we should track down Rachel and do a proper Cauldron Game with her.
