Before anyone says anything, yes, this is a spin-off of "The Dark Age of Nintendo Series" by Scott the Woz. It's definitely one of my favorite series created by him and he's a huge inspiration to me. I hope you enjoy my own twist on the concept!

@@dion6425 If you’re talking about the ideas for each video, then yes they mostly come from me. Sometimes I ask friends for some ideas or guidance on concepts but the script and production is all done by myself.

The first Mario game is pretty old already. When will Mario become public domain?
@Chipss2 жыл бұрын
2060 if I’m recalling correctly, that is if they don’t renew the copyright, which they most definitely will.
@KingYoshi932 жыл бұрын
@@Chipss Ah, I didn't know they could renew it. That sucks. And you're also right about the lost media stuff. Fans are often way more passionate about games/films/other media than the right holders it seems. The big companies just want money and will keep making new stuff; they probably don't care too much about preservation. :(

The problem that Nintendo has a point by saying it's THEIR property. THEY want to be in charge of determining how their games can be played. But fans just don't want to accept that because we know those big companies don't care enough about preservation and we just want to be able to still play those games in the future. Not only does it barely hurt Nintendo financially (it only does if they DO rerelease a game for once, but we cannot take the risk of them not doing that and the game becoming lost media) but in a way they should be proud their old games are appreciated so much lol.

13:25 The problem with making your own rip is finding out how to rip them. I mean, we can rip all current Nintendo systems' games, but we're dependent on very smart people that find out and share the method to do that. And Nintendo will probably try to make it as hard as possible for people to do it as time goes on.
@Chipss2 жыл бұрын
Ripping games is actually easier than ever thanks to the fact that any game can now simply be exported onto an SD card. Much easier than buying a cartridge dumper for, say, the N64. The only hurdle these days is figuring out how to mod the console, which usually doesn’t take long in the case of Nintendo.

Perhaps there should be a law that allows piracy at the moment Nintendo stops selling the original first release of the game so that they don't miss out on money. Of course such a law should NOT have a backdoor in it so that Nintendo can say "Eh, we might rerelease it ourselves sometime in the future, so downloading will be illegal until then", followed by them not actually doing that lol. But meh, you can't guarantee such things. This copyright stuff really is a complicated problem with no good solution. But because of the reasons you brought up, like preservation, I do think providing ROM rips online (piracy) can be considered good (and needed, because preservation is important).

In my opinion, it is morally OK to download old games from the internet. Take Super Mario 64 - the WiiWare shop is gone, nobody owns a Wii U and the Switch - you know the story. Nintendo obviously doesn't want to sell that game to me.
@OurobourousOB3 жыл бұрын
although i agree with nintendo on emulators, I do think they are being stupid in not keeping the virtual console because it was probably the only good thing about the Wii u
