[EN] Detroit: Become Human, a not so impossible future?

In September 2019, the Miraikan National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation in Japan, hosted a talk session, "Imagination & Science: Imagining the future with AI."
Using the critically acclaimed game "Detroit: Become Human" as a starting point for discussion and theorisation, the speakers, David Cage (CEO of Quantic Dream,) Yoichiro Miyake (Lead AI Researcher, Square Enix,) and Dr. Hirotaka Osawa (Faculty of Engineering, Information and Systems, University of Tsukuba), share their thoughts about a future with artificial intelligence.
In the first episode, David Cage talks in depth about his inspirations and overall vision for "Detroit: Become Human”, a title that depicts a near-future society in which artificial intelligence and robotic technology plays an integral role.

About question "how and why do androids become deviants, start feeling emotions". They got two orders that contradict each other, and they had to decide what should they do. For example, Kara. She got two orders: "take care of kid" and "do not move". Making choice is not in her program, so she became deviant. Connor already was a deviant because he needed to _choose_ the best approach. Markus became a deviant because he also got two orders: "take care of Carl" and "don't defend yourself". That's why androids become deviants. That's my opinion. I impatiently wait for DBH DLC, hope David Cage will make our dreams become true! Love you Quantic Dream ♡

This is a very cool idea, and is very close to what sparks bursts of self-development in people in general. Cognitive Dissonance is unpleasant, but having to make the decision between two conflicting courses of action forces us to confront ourselves and grow. That it would do the same to Androids is only natural, since they're modeled after humans in all their facets, after all.

That would make sense with most androids but apparently the RK series of androids was designed to be able to make decisions (Connor deciding how to solve the investigation, idk why Carl needed a decision making android but my best guess is he is in such poor health he needs someone who has initiative to help him) so I doubt that would apply to Connor and Markus, and also if Connor was already deviant why did his mind palace appear intact until he joined Jericho? (I'm not trying to be condescending in case that sounds like I am, I'm trying to help strengthen your theory by pointing out some flaws)

Tyler James Markus was given to Carl by Kamski. It’s possible that Kamski designed Markus to be a leader and he knew Markus would one day lead the revolution.

Connor is not a deviant,he become one after he start to feel emotion(s)...he's a detective and detective didn't make much choices but he's also a cop...usually cops do make choices so maybe that's why he given lots of choices in the game... This is my opinion owo

I’m not a politician nor the president but During this pandemic right now we’ve seen alot of damage to not only the community but mainly “ourselves”. Alot of people are trying to be on the side of justice, truth and health. Many of us can agree that most people born, are genuinely fine citizens with no harmful intent (the everyday working class). So many of us are genuinely born this way that we “may not believe” that there are people who simply aren’t born genuine at all. Since we were infants growing into adult hood we are introduced to society and it’s “Standards” on what it’s like to be or live in America. Throughout history alot of things that we once led to believe came out as false, from Slave ownerships to assassination cases into a bunch of other offenses that effects us globally. I don’t vote, I’m neither democrat nor republican. I’m mostly liberal at times but I don’t agree with everything and I’m conservative when I can feel in my guts or subconsciously that I need to self preserve. In this time of age there is no room for deception, political figures, entrepreneurs, entertainers to give us medical advice when they’re not licensed doctors. We’re going to have to question everyone’s intent including the individuals we look to for guidance “that are in power” who have “established platforms” since we we’ve been on this earth. The only thing I question about this is that most people we look up to, touch us in culture. Your favorite politician, entrepreneur, entertainers are in a higher tax bracket than us regular working class. I want to remain positive while telling the truth but hip-hop/ social media touches us in culture so much in a situation like this, that it’s almost inflating the situation as if “protesting turning into rioting” was suppose to be a “natural event” or “well deserved punishment for the corruption”. Most minorities have nothing to bring to the table when the talk about politics is being discussed because of the little we know and how the media and things in our upbringing shows us the perspective of how politics aren’t “cool or hip” because people will think you are lame, crazy, or uninteresting but sadly those are the people who are passively controlling the way we think with the laws that are being put into action. We all know sometimes people get injured or killed during the riot but I don’t appreciate all the political figures, entertainers and entrepreneurs who are telling us to fight back but not in a logical sense for us all not to get killed or Martial law. Now I can understand that the word “conspiracy” can easily be used to point out information that’s “not common” to most people and also simply to oppose an idea that’s “unheard of, or breaks their comfort level of thinking”. Now what I explained earlier from a basic understanding that most people on this earth just want truth justice and freedom with good intentions, we still have to be open to all evidence given to us that wasn’t completely shown. For example, I have nothing against a peaceful protest but we know that there are bad seeds who aren’t there to really peacefully protest. The bad seeds are not only just our own people but people in the higher tax bracket that we look up to. It’s not fair for the people who are really there for the peaceful side of things to feel repercussions from the uneducated people Who are turning peaceful protest into riots. To simply put it, it’s a third-party member that’s making citizens hate the police and police to defend themselves against the people. Now the people have no trust in the first line of defense being the police for real life basic crimes to where now martial law is an option for any crime no matter what level thanks to Obama signing a bill that made it law to initiate if needed during his last term. JFK had no reason to lie about secrets societies before he was assassinated. Anyone who feels like their life is on the line is going to lay out information to the public, because we all agree naturally that there’s genuinely good people born on this earth for truth freedom and health but do not care about politics in the degree of people who are actually involved. If you think about it 52 years wasn’t that long ago from today. Most people would be considered grandparents at that age who can actually tell you what was going on during that time period. i’m going to wrap this up by simply saying there’s evidence of a deep state agenda. if you google Dr. Shiva and CytoSolve Pay attention to how when George Floyd died no articles or news information was given out on people dying to COVID anymore as if people forgot that we’re under a pandemic (hoax). Nobody was social distancing during the protest and riots so if this pandemic isn’t real then this is obviously a distraction to carry out Bill Gates, Dr Fauci and communist China infiltrating the American people through “The thousands talents program” which is connected to the world health organization where we get our medicine from. let’s not play dumb a good 90% of what we own comes from China anyway but the point is that there are people in LA & NY that we need to drain our swamp as minorities in all fields because we look to them as our leaders. These entertainers “touch us in culture” to where you don’t realize that, 1. they’re not politicians, they don’t know any better about politics themselves. 2. are getting paid to passively push this agenda thinking that they are helping their fellow culture when they don’t realize it’s inflating us from the inside because of the little we don’t know about politics and economics that it’s our own fault for what is happening. I’ve been trying to do research myself independently and I know they’re others who are in the light of truth justice and freedom who want to get this information out to the public without being censored by platforms such as KZbin Twitter Instagram and Facebook. On a serious note who says that androids should actually be treated like people. I enjoyed the story and relationships in this game but I'm Christian and very much disapprove of the forced agenda of this game and the direction that the world is going in.

I'm shocked if he actually did all the research he claims to have done because the end result is just the same repetitive robot uprising story people have been telling since Rossum's Universal Robots in the 1920's. It presents nothing new or realistic concerning AI. Don't get me wrong, I love this game a lot, but it has about as much to do with realistic AI as Bicentennial Man.
