you should watch the unabridged time line of NieR someone just made it and it tells the whole timeline of drakengard to Nier only involving the story around this time line and nothing else. its really easy to follow and he did a really good job with the video the only thing is its like 6 hours long so its long

I can also endorse the EruptionFang video, rather than being a review of a game his video looks in depth at the Prime timeline that connects all the games and explains all the underlying concepts and connections. It answers a lot of the "but wait, what?" or "why" questions that you voiced.
