Join me my dear Oddites as we travel through France on the back roads - where beautiful towns await us and an amazing early 19th century Château, that was closed up decades ago. It remains undisturbed by the progress around it.
Btw, the circa 1930s HOLY WATER bottle featured on the teaser image, belongs to my collection...minus the holy water :)
Oddie Beau's ODDNESS Urban exploration & famous historical features! vintage crime cases & eccentric people from the past! ...and other weird stuff :) ....a dusty store window, filled with ancient alluring oddities. Once you've entered, you'll never want to leave. Quality over quantity.

Same here, Regina ! Thank God that I also had the opportunity to visit many beautiful countries in Europe in my youth and later with my wife, the memories will always stay with me/ us for all times, and I will never forget seeing so much beauty in landscape and architecture, history and culture and meeting so many nice and interesting people while we both still could. We are both severely disabled now so our travelling days are over, but none can take our memories away from us and we have our beautiful daughter and Oddie's videos as well, so that is something isn't it ? All the best, Regina ! From Steve, Hamburg, Germany.😘

Oddie, I'm like you, I much prefer to go off of the beaten path and explore the back roads. What you have given us is truly a delight to the senses :-D . Like you, I'm practically chomping on the bit to learn more about the chateau (My husband is an international business traveler for the medical device company that he works for and he doesn't care for Paris either!-It's way to busily manic for him, although he did like Versailles a great deal!) My father would often take myself and my 5 siblings on a Sunday drive after church and we'd always find something new and amazing. How I miss those drives with him. That castle would be an amazing wedding venue! I'd happily go bankrupt with you just to get a shot at buying the chateau. Thank you much for taking us along on this tour. I do indeed look forward to your next video! :-D

Some viewers have sent me additional information, and it appears that the château, although still furnished, (complete with many taxidermy specimens!) is in a bad state of decay inside; the roof has caved in, water has ruined much of it - and the owner refuses to sell or bequeath it...preferring it to rot into the ground. Thanks for your very kind feedback Mary, I appreciate it :)

ObsoleteOddity I will never understand how anyone could own this superb piece of architecture and all its contents, only to willfully let it rot and decay. One has to wonder what the story is because I’m sure there must have been many offers over the decades. There is a great mystery in this chateau and its family I am thinking.🖤🇨🇦

Seeing that beautiful house next to the Hotel de Ville, one can really say that the architects and builders in those days not only loved their trade, but spared no effort or cost to build something special, decorated with love of detail and unique in its own way. Such buildings are not constructed any more and humanity and society loses out because of the lack of such beauty in our midst. I have also travelled the country roads of France from Brittany to the Cote d'Azur in the past and agree totally with Oddie in his appreciation of the charm and beauty of the wonderful country, not only in its fantastic countryside but also the lovely architecture of the villages and towns. I once saw a similar, but much larger carrousel in Strasbourg once, it was gigantic and ancient - I don't know when they started building those funfair attractions, but it must have been an early model - with lovely old carriages and horses on it. The Château Oddie couldn't get entrance to is lovely, I can understand his frustration not being able to get into the place. Just imagine what might still be hidden inside it's beautiful walls ! Great video, as always, Oddie ! Love your narrative and approach to the subject of old buildings, antiques and history in general ! 🌟🌟🌟

What a great way to end an exhausting and emotionally draining month. I love these tours and I have some catching up to do . Thankfully I have finally managed to get some assistance and will have more time now . You're an oasis in all the craziness that happens in this world Oddie and I'm not sure if you are aware of the calming power of your voice and how therapeutic it is to go on a tour with you . I feel I have to mention Erin . I truly believe that her spirit stopped by to bid you farewell before she left on her eternal journey . That is the power of your community. Would it be possible to trace the owner of the chatue from the family crest above the doorway? It would be great to look inside but I find it eerie that nobody in the town would speak about it . Maybe there's a sinister story about it . I think the fish tank is kept for lobster and that's why it was empty. Our world is incomprehensibly crazy . We have lost our humanity . I wish we could escape to times when respect meant something . Anyway it's so great to be back . Ps I'm still having problems with Patreon . I've tried everything even different accounts . Could you please check if by some glitch it isn't available in SA . I will have time this week and will definitely sort it out one way or another. With much love and respect Lewellyn

Sorry to hear you've had a tiring month Lewellyn, hopefully things are getting better. Thanks for your very kind feedback brother, I appreciate it :) Some viewers have sent me additional information, and it appears tat the château, although still furnished, (complete with many taxidermy specimens!) is in a bad state of decay inside; and the owner refuses to sell or bequeath it...preferring it to rot into the ground. Good point about the fish tank! I had a look and some SA patrons have reported a total outage of Visa payments, so I don't know if that has something to do with the problems you're experiencing. I shall send you the link via messenger to Patreon support, send them an email detailing the issues you're having. It might be a temporary glitch. If they don't reply in a week, let me know and I'll get on to them. Cheers my friend, have a great week, Oddie

Beautiful, Oddie. Thank you for taking us with you on this excursion. I also enjoy traveling via back roads. I agree, the experiences are much richer then the overload of big city thrills. My great-great-grandfather was killed on the front porch of his chateau during the Great War and the rest of my family immigrated to the United States soon afterward. I've been on the hunt to find their chateau for years. Quite difficult with the language barrier.

Your commentary and chatting is very enduring. And intelligent too! I am very much at home and don't have much company so you keep me company through your videos. Of course the exploring you do is very interesting.

Beautiful! Thank you for sharing this footage of your trip. Deserted towns are so much fun to explore and are rich in history. Also, the food! J'adore French food and the presentation! 💜

I ADORE that Chateau. In the US property records are public record and most counties have their info accessible online. I do not know if there is an equivalent in France but whenever I see a place I am interested in I usually Google, county name, state name & Parcel Search and can find the site (each county is different). Good luck finding out information. I like when you go on tours, easy way to live vicariously through you! THANK YOU ODDIE!!!!

So fabulous Oddie! My late bro had a Scrambler that looked alot Iike that...Willy? Jeep? IDK but his was rainbow colored! Crazy. We used to race a bit. His Scrambler my Demon. 40 yrs ago. Ugh. So long ago. Loved this vid! So much history overseas. That hasn't been wiped out. Halloween. Fall. My favorite time of year. Can't wait for your other stuff! I hope Nessie makes a scary appearance lol! Thanks Oddie👻🎃☠️🦕
