What would you recommend from this series for the largest range of full sound, I’m playing furioso and valse and a lot of the mallets I have are either too clunky in the low octaves or don’t pick up the sound that I want higher?

Thinking about buying 3 or 4 pairs of these but I'm really stuck as to which hardnesses to get. I was thinking 2-4-7 but now I'm really unsure. What hardnesses do you think will provide me the largest range of sound and versatility of pieces for 4 mallet combinations?

Hey Adam, when I first started off playing mallets, someone actually gave me a free pair of nn4b's and I was thinking about buying 2 more pairs to make a graduated set, and I was wondering what graduated set you would recommend for your piece Louts. I just picked it up again for the first time in a couple months and I'm thinking about playing it for my percussion showcase later this year, but I don't really have a nice set of concert mallets so I figured these would be a good choice since I already have 1 pair.

Ok idk if you remember me, but I want to get 2 pairs of mallets for 4 mallet play because all my others are rattan, which is difficult for 4 mallet. I am going for the Evelyn Glennie Marimba, and they meet all my needs, nice sound , fair price, and they look pretty nice too! Could you review these/ tell me if you would reccomend them?

Of course I remember you Ben! I have never tried Evelyn’s mallets and I know very little about them so I can’t say much, but they do look pretty traditional with the shape and feel! Definitely see if you can try them yourself first though haha

Is getting a graduate set a necessary for these mallets or can I just get a 4 mallet set of medium for all purpose playing. Im asking because they dont sell a graduate set of these anywhere you just have to buy all the different sizes. Please respond

I think you can get away with two pairs of medium, but if you are able to get a third pair then you can try getting something softer so you can really mix them together. I only say that because the medium mallet is really nice on its own :)

What mallets would you recommend for Libertango by Eric Sammut? I have the DHB2 mallets from Marimba One, would those work?

I think they are okay! But maybe you will need to graduate them for libertango cause it needs a bit of soft bass, maybe you can mix it with the dhb 4/5 too? Experimenting will get you there :)

I personally like the NM better just because the Jupiter doesn't quite match the sound I'm looking for and I like the extra weight - but they're both good in their own rights. And yes 0G is sending me mars later in 2018!
