Outstanding tutorial. I know very little about Fusion and was able to follow along and re-create credits for my own work. To me, this kind of tutorial goes a long way toward helping people jump start their learning of something as robust and complicated as Fusion. Thank You.

Question, even though this is a 3 year old Tut but since its the only one that really specifically focuses on my question (and much higher quality than the others I've seen). Are others seeing an extremely slow render from long credits in Resolve/Fusion? My credits are long (about a 3.5min run at 2px/frame), but I get about 4secs/frame render speed. Its ungodly slow. Like over an hour to render a credit roll. Theres a couple of linked text boxes to group sections (because some roles change between shows, so easier to copy and paste those sections), but even a single box is insanely slow in UHD. I finally redid the graphics in AE and was able to build and render 4 show rolls from scratch before Resolve could render 1 roll. It doesn't seem right but I can't find anything to speed it up. Specs: Resolve 17.4.2, iMac Pro 32core, 64GB RAM, 16GB GPU, working off a 8TB 4x2 SSD RAID0. Is what I'm seeing normal?

overall I like the tutorial, but one thing eludes me... you very quickly and kind of off the cuff mention that you have everything pre-formated in a word doc, then you just copy paste and you have all your tabs already set... when I try to copy my word doc it does not bring the tabs over... what am I missing?

Why are my credits so jumpy? It doesn't roll smoothly. Is that a playback issue or did I possibly do something wrong?
@Hdhead3 жыл бұрын
I couldn't possibly tell you without seeing the actual clip. It also depends on the frame rate. You'll get more strobing at lower frame rates like 23.976 or 24.

Hello, this tutorial is absolutely amazing and has been incredibly helpful. That being said, I have two super important questions (I've been pulling my hair out): 1. How do I do this on a transparent background 2. Is there a way to extend the time allotted for the credits after I've started editing in fusion? I can no longer drag the length of the bar in the edit screen and couldnt figure out how to extend the timing other than starting completely from scratch. It's not THAT big of a deal, but it would be amazing if I could just + another 300 seconds or something. Thank you again for your tutorial!
@Hdhead4 жыл бұрын
Do you mean, how do you comp the titles over a background? The alpha channel is created by default. But if you're using a black background in Fusion make sure to drag the Alpha slider all the way to zero. Then you should be able to comp the Fusion clip on the Resolve edit page over a lower track. You can also use a video clip in place of the black background in Fusion. To change the duration extend the Fusion clip on the edit page. Then in Fusion extend the last keyframe to match your new running time. If you're comping over a black background in Fusion you may have to extend that too. I'm not sure if it scales automatically.

Change the Y translation lines/frame. Usually for HD or 2K content 1, 2, or 3 lines per frame are the best speeds.

Always great videos! I'm sure I'm missing something. But how do I get it to roll to the end of my credits? If I have a longer list and need to have it be :90 it only gets about 1/2 way.
@Hdhead5 жыл бұрын
You have to adjust the type metrics like leading and size. You also may need to run sections in multiple columns. For example, you can set thank yous, music credits and logos in multiple columns. The goal is to keep the vertical translation an integer value or else you get aliasing. That's a constant. Everything else need not be locked. There are practical cases I have run into where it was just unreasonable to fit a credit roll into the time slot defined by the sound mix. We'd adjust the mix to extend it or shorten it.

And I connected the line of medeaIn2 of the logo to a new merge. At initial state, a green box of the new merge fit well with the edges of the logo. But, whenever I change the x and y Offsets at my merge connected with the logo, the green box of the merge moves alone.... Is it my fault..? Then, what is the problem??😭😭

Great video, obviously for someone that knows this app and don't need to learn it. Have you considered that somebody that is a novice and is trying to learn has no clue what you're clicking? Fast clicks make it impossible to follow. I'm giving up after replaying 15 sec. chunks over and over for an hour...

Thank you for your comment Peter. Yes, I have considered that and I'm aware that there is a lot of content squeezed in a short video. My intended audience are long time Resolve colorists who are somewhat familiar with the subject matter but need to pick up a few new skills now that Resolve has much deeper toolset.

Hi Igor, .....Again,.... you make very good points in your video's but do us all a favor this weekend, take whatever you are using for a mic, take it outside and shoot it, bury it.................done. On Black Friday, but a new proper mic with a pop filter also go into Fairlight and get rid of the pops, knocks and eses plotions ... Really, your sound is an insult to what you are saying as well as us trying to hear you.
@Hdhead6 жыл бұрын
Do you have any advice on headsets vs. standalone microphones. I prefer a headset for the freedom of movement. Do headsets inherently pick up more pops and sibilance because of the proximity to the mouth? Thanks!
@charlemarcharlemar24016 жыл бұрын
Yes, I think headsets do have problems but there are many people using them (just look at a film crew on set) and therefore the solution is out there. First, decide if what you have is good enough to keep. If it is then it must be ok and the problem is downstream. If it is ok, then build on it. Forget about KZbin and think more in terms of putting together a VOICE OVER setup instead. There you can sweeten the voice by using a small mixer that also has a compressor, limiter and equalizer etc. on it. You need only one mic input so put the money in what supports it alone not into mixers with 30 mic inputs which you would use them as expensive holes in a mixer board. As to mic, I have an Electro Voice RE 320 mic I use with a small Mackie mixer 3 mic inputs. My mic has a pop filter in it. It is the same mic Rush Limbaugh uses for his radio show. (Actually, mine has a switch that it can also sense low to 20 dB and is $100 cheaper for some reason. Mine was $350 but you need not spend anything near that. For editing, I also use a Mackie i810, primarily because it has excellent mic pre amps and a few controls to support the voice and I can also route the input outputs where they need to go.) There are also separate preamps used for VO sweetening that are about $50 up. Hold on I must look =some of this up for you..... www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwjK_ZvghO7eAhUo9YMKHa1bBU8QFjAAegQICBAB&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.bhphotovideo.com%2Fexplora%2Faudio%2Fbuying-guide%2Fguide-voice-over-equipment&usg=AOvVaw3x68sDeBVuPXgY8WH7ivQF Start with that link and remember DO NOT use a condenser mic, too expensive and unless you are in a dead quite place it will pick up Robins in the trees. (My house is old, brick and stone and over 300' away from any road and I still built a room inside another room.) Again, I hate Amazon and have bought from B&H for years plus no tax with them unless you are in NEW York. They also take stuff back until February 2019, nit the usual 30 days. If I think of those other preamps (Its' Fourter or Scarlet or something) I will look it up and send it to you.) You must just decide if what you are using is good enough to keep and build onto or start fresh.
