​@@IvanArthurHall Not really. I split the clip and only applied the effect when the object was not in front of the foreground. You can see it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j5ipZaWajc-kaMU Anything before 20sec, you can see a reflection on the wall (behind my left arm), but then it fades out into the clip that has the effect applied.

Also folks remember you should be denoising before paint out and then renoising after. Otherwise you'll get patches with static grain and animated grain in the shot. Thanks for the tut I think I'll be moving to Fusion.

Doesn't work for me if object and source are both increase in size due to camera movement. It works at first, but then everything just falls apart as the brush starts to cover too much space. I couldn't figure out how to link the brush size to tracked area size

Hi Theo - excellent tutorial - as always. Very much appreciated. I have been suffering from dust spots that got onto my sensor, and have been using the new Fusion FX function called "Patch Replace" that is part of the Resolve FX Revival tools in the Studio version. This works better for users that haven't paid. But the Patch Replace tool is nice and easy to use in a Color Node. The one think I couldn't figure out how to make work was to use it with a tracker. It does seem to work as there is are two options in the Settings panel: "Source follows track" and "Target follows track", but it wasn't clear how to use these. If you happen to know how to attach a track to these two options, I'd love to know, as this is another nice way to solve this problem. Thanks, David

One other reason why it might be better to use the Patch Replace tool is that has a "smart healing" option (light Lightroom and Photoshop) that you can use instead of a clone, which can work better in certain circumstances.

Hi Theo - I found the solution to my problem here: www.premiumbeat.com/blog/remove-features-resolve-patch-replacer/ The key was discovering that there is a special FX item on the Tracker Menu that I had to click before I could track the FX. Once I tracked it, the patch automatically followed the track. This is a super powerful variant of object replacement because of the ability to use Adaptive Blend as well as Clone for the fill in method, as well as controls for blurring the edges, etc. The only negative is that it is only in the Studio version of Resolve.

Ensure you have your nodes properly and actually connected to your media output's and that the clip you're viewing in the edit is the same as the fusion clip.

I'm having the same problem. I've been using Resolve for color grading for a couple years now and this is my first go at using Fusion. The nodes are properly connected to in and output and it is definitely the same clip. When I move over to the color panel or edit panel though the tracking disappears and it is just the paint strokes moving with the camera motion. Is there some sort of finalizing or rendering that needs to happen? Not sure what else to do.

Same problem here - looks fine on the Fusion page, but when I go to edit or color it's all over the place. I redo the track in Fusion and all still looks fine, but in edit or color the clip has all sorts of problems, flickers or tracks only a few frames - no idea why as looks fine when played in Fusion.

Just to update my experience of this I was using a clip which was a sequence I'd exported from Premiere and brought into Resolve to grade and used an EDL to split it into clips - it was this that Fusion seems to have major issues with. When I brought in the individual clip I wanted to work on it seemed to be fine.

Hi i have followed your instructions and it works fine un till i render i have to admit my machine aint the highest spec macbook 8 gig of ram and 2.3 i5 processor i have this shot were the camera is panning back however there are signs on one fo the doors that director wants gone so yeah teh camera is moving back which the tracker has to keep the clone in place which is do's not do very well at all agin this does take a toll on my macbook when i render this. Plus i have to type in Media1 manualy into the track source for it to be in there when i clip the tab i sw you do to add it it came up with a wweird error message about rendering but yeah once i start the track it starts to really go all over teh place i then see floor in the middle of the door. could you hwlp me out on this please thanks.

Hello, thanks very much for this tutorial ! I'm a beginner in Fusion and I have a problem with the clone mode. When I select other mode like color, merge, Erase, or Stamp, it's working but with the clone mode, nothing is happening. The cross is staying in the circle and i can't select an area. I selected stroke mode. I was careful with all the parameters to select but it doesn't work.

Still very new to Fusion, but I must say that it surely top out on being totally non-intuitive! :). To "open up the PaintGroup" - there is NO indication of that this even is possible, and you must double-click!? And then, to connect to the Tracker, you're supposed to right click. Again - nothing at all that indicates this. "You just have to know". Hey - why not make it a tripple click down in the left corner? Sorry. As I said, I'm very new to Fusion so I one day I might find the logic behind it all. Or, the developers will put some effort into GUI-thinking?

I had the same problem, not sure what he clicked that sort of copied and pasted it into the box. I know that when he took the mouse cursor down to the Median1, it created orange text just above it and below "Nodes," then he went to the box and Median1 appeared almost like he hit paste. I was able to just type Median1 in and hit enter. I also had to make sure I switched to the arrow tool and selected the entire range of area where I had painted over. Then it selected all the points that need to be tracked. I think its finally working for me. Previously I didnt do the step of selecting the tracking points and only Typed Median1 and the tracking didnt work. The painted area stayed in place as everything else moved.
