Good old BR blue. Much better than some of the fairground liveries and plastic trains we're stuck with now.

WOW!!! Things changed so much from when I started going there as a boy. I remember going down in the early 90's there was no signal box, sidings etc there. I also only remember HST's and maybe a Sprinter for the Corby - Kettering shuttle. This is my home station.

Wonderful, wonderful shots Darren - terrific shots of the HSTs with the exhaust plumes and sounds of the Valentas winding themselves up - great shots of the 47s and 20s on the freights and I think a steel slab working as well - lovely class 45 and sound - also can add a class 56 to your description as I think it was 56060 on the Redlands

Somehow i thought it would last forever......but it didnt... Trains are faster and quiter now but there was still pride in working for the railways when i was a kid watching trains from the mid 70's to mid 80's. Thankyou for sharing from this Leicester boy who used to spend his time at Wigston South box watching these trains heading up from Kettering

I remember my mate Wayne and I buying return tickets from Kettering to Leicester and Kettering to St Pancras at the same time, getting down to London so we could get the Master Cutler straight through to Leicester, firstly so we could experience going straight through Kettering without stopping and secondly so we could swipe the door window destination paper banners with the Master Cutler crest on, seems like a crazy thing to have done looking back now. The 56 on Redland hoppers brought back some memories, also recall regular 56 freight with tarmac hoppers and double headed 25s going north daily around lunchtime with bricks, we called it the “London Brick”. Grew up in Desborough.

I lived fairly nearby at the time, and live in Kettering now, so it's also my local station. The Kettering to Corby shuttle employed the older first generation DMU types before later on the revised station came into play with Meridians. We did get the odd Sprinter in the 80's/90's on a morning Bedford to Derby service and an afternoon trip to Bedford, but they've always been fairly rare.

Is it me or does the HST look better now than it did in the 80s? Back then they looked grimy and well worn, but today after 40 years of service with their refurbs and modern liveries, they look much more modern even when compared to newer trains. Kenneth Grange's design had aged well.

A superb design that has aged very well indeed and suited a variety of liveries over the years - and of course they're not done yet..........

Another great video! Thanks to those long June evenings the opportunities just kept coming. Amazing quality on those later evening clips - given the technology available to you and you've kept it in the transfer to digital. Your work really deserves an official archive.

@SMILEVIDEOTRAINS Thanks Keith, glad you enjoyed it :-) Not bad considering i was only 15 then! I've got a couple more from Kettering to make still with more 45's, 47's, 56's, and so on - sadly very different to if you were to film there now.

@NapierNimbus Thanks for that Ian. Working on the next Kettering evening installment which features FIVE Class 45's on passenger, parcels, and freights, plus 47, 56, 58, and more :-)

@argenvia Hi Gus, and welcome aboard from Argentina :-) No 50's at Kettering in this one(a pair later when we hit the early 90's though!), but lots of 50's to come soon from London and South West England....................

Wonderful videos. My band is making a music video for our song about the history of the HST and we would love to use some of the HST footage from this film in it, with your permission. Would you be happy for us to use it?

I designed the engine control system for the four power cars that had the Mirrlees MB190 engine in them. It would be interesting to see your music video about the HSTs
