Why do you pay toll tax for 100 km while you travel only 10 km?
The toll collection system that is working in India is actually great, but I have always had some issues with it.
1) I always used to wonder, Why do I have to pay full toll tax if I am just travelling 10 km ahead of a particular toll tax?
2) The continuous tension of checking my FASTag account, and in case I forget to recharge it or if there is any bank failure, I have to pay the double tax.
3) FASTag has actually played an important role in avoiding long lines at the toll, but still, the system is not fully automated. We can still see long lines on the toll plazas, especially on the super-busy roads of this country.
So I always wondered: Is it possible to even further revitalise this toll tax collection system? The recent step by Nitin Gadkari is actually a great step towards the solution of this problem.

Toll tax in Assam is extortion. For going around 100 km on one way you have to pay around Rs. 300/- That is kind of an extra burden to the expensive oil purchases.

This technology already exists in countries like UAE. This will be a great help for all motorists. However, if Toll is collected, then Road-Tax must stop, which is an additional expense. Why does a common man have to pay both Road Tax and Toll Tax? This happens only in India.

Few issues with it and their solution- 1.) Many people who have a second-hand car buy it on loan by paying the previous owner's loan so the car would not get registered in the second owner's name till the loan gets completed. ( in short in the guarantee of the dealer, it's like a trust purchase but the dealer is in between with a guarantee ) 2.) People also take time to register their second-hand car in their name. 3.) Linking Number plates would be a privacy and fraud problem due to false number plates and people's privacy. The solution is simply let the fast tag be linked with a bank account and GPS-based system scan that because of that second-hand owners will not get any problems and no privacy issues for false number plates government must take strict action on those people and the the people who have bought second-hand car should check the number plate first, as there are fraud dealers also with them. Across India lakhs of vehicles run with duplicate number. Then how actual vehicle owners interest protected. Traffic cops often not cooperating. I know when a person visited police station, several people have similar complaint cane to the police station. This is in Mumbai. No resolution or caught the people. Need GPS fitted with the vehicle compulsory.

Chill India is not the pioneer of this kind of technology. In this type of toll system long range rfid system work in conjunction with ai based traffic cameras and wireless relay navigation system, So it's not possible to hide the real identity of a vehicle.

I have a few queries regarding this new system:- - What if a vehicle passes by the surveillance cameras in high speed or in such a way that it’s number plate is not clearly identified? - What if the number plate got identified but the bank account linked to it has no balance?

This technology already exists in many countries. The cameras are strong enough to capture the number plate at any speed.

The scanners on some toll plazas are so slow that we have to wait for 2-3 mins for it to actually work. Then we have to tell the personnel that we have a monthly (so that they do not charge us double). Some days we have to wait for 20-30 mins at the plazas. This system will really save time and reduce frustration. Thank you for explaining it profoundly.

In my experience the most transactions are instant. Sometimes the barricade opens even before the car comes to a full stop.

There are some toll plazas who doesn't have good scanners. And it takes lots of time. However in some cases I have also seen that stopping for the barricade to open is not required.

Toll taxes can be there but only should be in states border areas. Toll taxes should be reduced 50% and Food Items vehicles should be given free entry everywhere in India. Indians travel not for pleasure maximum for work or else people will be disheartened to even work. Whatever govt. Next step is, taxes should be reduced in India especially road and vehicular taxation. Indians and foreigners roads are very different. Indian govt. Can't provide any basic facilities like developed nations but wants to tax people and Businesses like developed nations.

Tollbooths ko remove krke bhi toll tax kam nhi hone wala he . Instead it will increase unemployment. technology is not going to compensate those peoples .And toll booth ke fayde bhi he .
