I think the fundamental problem is in thinking and approach. We have to answer this question " Does the Airport create the business environment? or is the Business Environment a prerequisite for the airport?" The geniuses (stupid) in the Nepal government firstly take infrastructure as a political stance rather than a scientific stance secondly given that the majority of air travellers are migrant workers and visa processing is limited to Kathmandu then any international airport other than Kathmandu or nearby nijgarh is unnecessary. I think Pokhara International airport will be a bigger disaster than Bhairahawa. just think about it an airport in a location whose land is collapsing due to the underground current of the mighty river and then Nepal makes an international airport on such land.

Not really. Nepal cribs about India. India is not extorting money from Nepal the way the British extorted. India actually gives money to Nepal by letting Nepalis work in India and also takes care of Nepali security cost north of the border. If anything, Nepal's standard of living is better because of India. Otherwise, half of Nepal's budget will go toward its defense forces to secure its north. Nepal does not even have an air force. This airport cost Nepal $300 million. You can only buy about 5 fighter planes for that cost. Nepal is way lucky to have India stand by it. If, in exchange for its investments, India asks Nepal not to work with China then there is nothing wrong with it. Besides, what did Nepal do? It went with this investment and is losing money. Pokhara already had an airport to begin with. This airport was not necessary.

I still remember that when there was nothing to eat in the market, my friends and I sneaked across the border to buy food from India. When we were suffering so much for the middle class, how much pain must have been felt for the people of the lower class than the middle class.India always wants Nepal to remain under India. This is not the fault of the people of both the countries. The fault lies with Indian politicians and Nepalese politicians are also to blame.
