Great video John some cracking flowers and Tomatoes wow. Noticed your leeks outside were covered a bit. I'm worried about my local show onions outside getting to much rain and rot. Should I cover them with plastic John. Cheers

Hi John, everything is better covered at this late stage. Does your show schedule ask for onions as pulled or dressed, if dressed they should be lifted now to get them ripe with a nice skin. If you decide to leave in the ground I would cut right back on watering.

All looking good john 👌 i grow my blanched leeks in pots and the foliage is going a bit pale should i be feeding them ?
@gardeningwithjohnsoulsby1131
@gardeningwithjohnsoulsby1131 11 ай бұрын
Hi Mark, if you start to feed at this late stage you risk them splitting. I would suggest a foliar feed with Epsom Salt (10 ml to the gallon) and a half strength feed of liquid seaweed .

Hello Maureen, Coleus are easy to take cuttings from. Choose a shoot that has not flowered and cut beneath a pair of leaves about 2” long, remove the bottom leaves and you could place in a small container with an inch of water or use a pot of seed compost , either way it will take about 20 days to produce nice roots.

Hi Nigel, I have rather a large area to pen in with enviromesh, but this is good advice to anyone who can do it. It certainly does help.

Hi John what length should the final collar be on the blanch leeks plz
@gardeningwithjohnsoulsby1131
@gardeningwithjohnsoulsby1131 11 ай бұрын
Hello Mark, it all depends on the length you have managed to get your leeks too. I would hope to have an 18” final collar but some years it may be 16” and other years I have had 20”. It is as much a fault to over Blanch than it is to under Blanch.

Hello Colin, I think it costs £10 now but you need to join before May to be able to exhibit at there show. I would visit the show and you can join there for next year. Also the NEHS show in Stanley is on the week after the NPLS show.
