Yes, please do a full review on curiosity chronicles! I’m a first time homeschool mom and cannot figure out which history curriculum to use 😅 I love your videos! You have helped me so much. Thank you!

My kids used MUS and always tested well overall BUT there are areas that they consistently missed in standardized tests because they weren't used in MUS (number lines, number bonds, math vocabulary, etc). We now use a blend of a few different curricula.

Thanks for another great video! I would love to hear about your experiences with standardized testing. We are required to do testing (or an evaluation) every year in VA. We have been using the CAT test but it doesn't provide much useful information besides checking the block for VA requirements.

I was waiting for this video! You answered so many questions I was going to dm you about...haha! My child also had low math standardize test score from using MUS and we did Pre-Algebra. I believe Lalia from Living with Eve says the same thing. Also, thanks for the review on Curiosity Chronicles, I love a fat notebook! Those premade science kits make us the best teachers 😂.

I totally agree about supplementing with MUS. I know that’s an unpopular opinion, but we too started Zeta about the time when I think you mentioned Zeta. We are on now on lesson 16 of pre-algebra. My son found lessons 13 and 14 a bit of a jump, but since then it’s been very plain sailing. We have slowed it down so that we can also pick up Saxon 87 again, and so taking 2 weeks to do a lesson in MUS and a lesson a day in saxon, and that’s working brilliantly. I think my son just needed a break from Saxon because he had hit a wall and it got too hard for his age developmentally, he was doing 87 at the age of 9 1/2 and that’s just too young imo. Would love to know what math curriculum you will be moving to next. Also love Rod & Staff eng. We have just started 6 and it’s going well. What is the pathway for iew s & s? Is it 1A, 1B, 1c or does it go 1A, 2A, 2c, then back to 1B? I can’t seem to find out. Would love to see History Chronicles flip through and in depth review! Thanks so much for sharing

I would really LOVE to learn more about how you do standardized testing as homeschoolers. As a teacher I thought standardized testing was completely out of hand. My students were literally losing almost 2 months of education a year in middle school to different levels of standardized testing. If my daughter were going to public school I would absolutely sign her out of it... But as homeschoolers I think it would be good to check how we compare to her peers from time to time, but definitely not to that extent. 😬 I would love to hear which tests you use, how you sign up for them, how frequently you choose to test, how the tests are administered, how long the testing is, what they cover, what is included in the score reports and how long it takes to receive the scores. 😅 (I think I just used this comment to brainstorm what I'm wondering about and accidentally made a very demanding list. 😅 Please dont take it that way!) 😅😅😅

I just did testing for my second grader only because my state requires it. I used the Terra Nova 2nd edition. Ordered it & administered it myself. The test has different sections & is timed but gives plenty of time for student to finish. Total I think it’s around 4hrs long. I just got my results and I’m utterly impressed!! My student tested above average on their scale. you should look into that test. I also heard the older version of the CAT test is great!

I think we have finally found our sweet spot for math. We have been using MUS as our main spine to introduce and master concepts, but I also use a lower grade level of Math Mammoth to review and also show concepts in several different ways. I know that if I would have started with Math Mammoth it would have overwhelmed my daughter, but since she is already familiar with the concepts it just stretches her a little. I’ve heard several people say they switched from MUS after pre-algebra, so I’m not looking forward to finding another curriculum.

I have a 6th grader and we are new to iew. we have done their three weeks free lessons for 1a and 1b. we do like it, however i'm torn on what level to do. my daughter wants to start with 1b. Is there a big difference between the two levels in terms of assignments? Which level would you start a sixth grader with? we will be doing the fixit grammar also.

We just made the switch away from MUS. My son loves MUS and does really well but he definitely has gaps in areas since things are not taught in MUS. He had to go down a grade level because a lot of key concepts weren’t taught to him.

My son is 5.5 and I am interested in bringing in CC for 1st grade and would love to hear more insights from you on how it worked, set up, and which package you recommend (audio version sounds good too). I'm UK-based and the print version costs quite a bit more, but then again I'm sure there's a lot of printing! Thanks :)

Learn Math Fast also would need supplementing but they don’t go in the same order as public schools. I am so glad that we don’t test because my daughter is learning but it isn’t her favorite subject. Whenever she gets something wrong she takes it hard. So I am glad we don’t test. I can’t believe that it has been 3 years since I first started following you! I remember when you were taking about the 3rd grade. ETA: it has also been proven that girls start getting lower test scores once they hit puberty. It sounds like she is still thriving and I wouldn’t match her up to a test score.

Math u see needs no supplementing if you aren’t testing. math U See does not follow the public school system so the testing will never match up. It’s a solid curriculum

Why did you all switch from Saxon??
@jesuslovesyou9032
@jesuslovesyou9032 2 ай бұрын
@@taylored_mad3 it would take a long time to complete a lesson. The student did not do well with spiral approach in the Saxon. When introduced to a new concept, it is taught, given an example, and practice new concept. However, by the time it spiraled back to that concept, she would completely forget it and have to go back to relearn it. Therefore, we switched to a mastery based program to work better for the students learning style.
