It sounds to me as though (to you) the Lisa Eldridge eyeshadows are a solid (or even exceptional) product that simply ask for a different application method than the one you find intuitive-which might lead you to one of at least two conclusions. 1) That you have plenty of wonderful eyeshadows that DO behave in a way that’s immediately intuitive to you, thus making the Lisa shadows not the right product for your collection, or 2) that adjusting your application technique for the Lisa shadows is a change so minor as to be insignificant, and that they justify their presence in your collection with their sumptuous shades and textures. Looking forward to seeing which way this goes during the declutter! I have two of the LE palettes and haven’t immediately loved them as much as I expected (albeit I use eyeshadow almost exclusively for drag, so the use case is quite different)-so we find ourselves in a similar boat!

Merry Everything Hannah! A thought for a video: Would it be possible to put a vid together comparing different 'blush' looks, or any other makeup look, on you so we could see what you see as far as colour, theme, and overall feeling goes? Following the idea that clothing stylists do in showing us how this is okay but this is better. Not sure how - before and afters?? - but for all of us visual learners it could be helpful??? I have super duper, highest level Retin A laden, snowy winter flaky, barrier breakage skin, meaning, I get it! lol Jones Road, yes it's a lifesaver in the middle of the day. I use La Mer in the morning, so that's how dry my skin is. :) I just ordered the RMS foundation and can't wait to try it. And to be honest, the eye shadow was patchy and you're right, it did not go on like that beautiful swatch. Thanks for being here and sharing your finds. It's always a pleasure.

I also have a cream thats as heavy/stiff as the Joans Road Miracle Cream. What helps me with the application is to use it immediately after my serum when my face is still wer/moist. The wetness/moisture from the serum helps greatly. Never thought I'd use such a heavy cream because I used to be oily but in the winter it's helpful once a week. Also thanks for the tip with the cica balm in a skin care video from last year. It helps tremendously against the burning of my cheeks when it's below 0 degree here.

And like 50 times more if you’re considering her buying multiple Lisa Eldridge palettes to make her custom one. So it’s impossible to make the comparison against elf. When it’s anywhere from 10-50 times more expensive.

With the Kjaer Weis Lip balm the problem will pretty much solve itself as all of their products, given that they are dedicated to “clean beauty” they do not use much preservatives. And that together with the fact that they use cardboard packaging, (albeit fancy) they allow for too much air to get into the product. I’m essence these two facts make all Kjaer Weis cream products to have a very short shelf life. So if I was Hannah Ian’s even more so if I have bought this lip balm with my own money) I would begin using the heck out of this lip balm or one might as well just toss it. As it cannot go to anybody else given the fact it has virtually no preservatives beyond perhaps vitamin E oil. And that doesn’t stand up to the works of the air for very long which means it will be a little bacteria mess for someone else to take over. And it will either way only have at best a few more months to go before the oils and fats in it begins to go rancid due to the lack of preservatives. Now I want to point out that I am all for creating makeup with less or less harmful preservatives for the Earth. But two things should come with that. 1. Better prices as products will have way shorter shelf lives. 2. Better awareness to the fact that zero or low amounts of preservatives in a product gives it a very short shelf life which means you cannot hoard such products and then choose to use them at a later time. So they call for a different consumer behaviour. (Which doesn’t really rhyme well with the ideas of Sephora and other big retailers that want us to fill our house with products during sales and seasonal changes…. As you cannot buy them and then let them sit and wait in a cupboard or on a shelf for months or sometimes even years before they get any usage as in that case you might even choose to toss it right away when you get home since these types of products will not last. And most of us do not get that as we are used to the amazing preservative properties of preservatives like parabens which can keep a product like this fresh and safe to use for decades. And that is just not the case with these “clean” products… ❣️

Whenever I fed my bubba, I always sipped a glass of water (with a straw in a screw cap bottle as bub liked to grab it) to make sure I was replenishing what I was giving. You can’t pour from an empty cup! Take care of yourselves mamas! ❤

I’ve been using the plain miracle balm as a moisturizer because my skin is SO SO SO dry and sensitive and raw and it’s sooooooo soothing! And I swear it makes my skin look amazing and less red an tomato like ✨

I have insanely dry skin and in the winter, it's so difficult. Especially if you enjoy wearing makeup - it just doesn't lay right some days. I highly recommend the Tatcha Indigo Overnight cream. It's a game changer. Helps with redness and irritation and I wake up looking like a normal human.

Pure vegetable glycerine is the only thing that cuts my dryness. VERY affordable and healthy. Thin layer with a toner over it to increase absorption

Ha! I love a good declutter! I knew that the eyeshadow is by LE, the colour and texture are special and suits you very well. I own two of her palettes and use them everyday (hit almost pan on one shadow). I use sythetic brushes and build the pigment a bit slower than you do. This works very well for me. Hannah, I have tried two new moisturizers this winter that have really helped my dry skin. The first is drugstore: Aveeno Calm + Restore Daily Gel Moisturizer (in the big bottle with a pump, not the little tub). The second product I had to order online. It is SKIN 1004 - Madagascar Centella Probio-Cica Intensive Ampoule. Both products are very moisturizing and soothing while being lightweight. I felt an immediate improvement in my skin overnight. They have also not caused any problems for my breakout prone skin. I hope these help. Happy Holidays!

In the winter time I use the Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream and it’s so soothing and moisturizing (a bit too much for summer time). Leaves a nice slip for makeup and the subtle scent is my favorite part of my skincare routine before bed too!

I would love to see you do a 5 looks one palette with your Lisa Eldridge palette, and see you familiarise yourself with her array of formulas! A lot of people have a learning curve with Natasha Denona/Pat MaGrath, Danessa Myricks etc. Their formulas are really trying to do something specific rather than be foolproof luxury like a Chanel quad.

I think the Fenty Cheeks Out cream blush in Rose Latte would be interesting to you. I'm very pale with pinkish reddish undertones and I actually love to use it as a contour. I do use it as a blush from time to time when I just want something more plain jane. The idea to use it as a contour came to me while watching one of your videos, I wish I could remember which one. Anyways, I love your style and find your videos relaxing and informative with an atmosphere of elevated coziness.

Feel like it’s worth mentioning that I had a very similar experience with fleurtacious and have only recently gotten to appreciate it and I can’t really explain why, although I guess I find it particularly helpful when I want to add a touch of pink to a more brown blush, which is my go to blush shade. I will say though that I use a much less dense brush (one of the smaller rephr cheek brushes), but weirdly I have been very happy to have it in my collection for the last couple months! 🤷‍♀️😬

I actually use the Ren Evercalm Ultra Comforting Rescue Mask under my makeup as a face moisturizer every day in winter. A small pea size amount blends nicely and doesn't have any residue or cast. Nothing else keeps my face moisturized properly. It does have a green cast to it if you use more, though, which could potentially be a benefit?

I feel like the Lisa Eldridge eyeshadows have a steep learning curve. I do really love them now, and I think the key for me was using them with natural bristle brushes. Hope that helps!

Idk if someone suggested this already, but I usually blend out my eyeshadow through the crease with a brush, and then go in with a finger to apply it more concentrated on the lid. Then you can blend it a little more if needed into what you already blended. Maybe that would work with the Lisa eyeshadows? Especially since you were hoping to use a finger anyway?

Hannah! I would love your opinion on something, maybe for an upcoming video? As I get older (I’m 29) I’ve noticed that I wear more makeup than anyone I know, both personally and professionally. I work in an office and some of the middle aged and older women wear makeup daily, but a lot of my peers wear minimal to none. I don’t wear “a lot” of product but I do a full face and I don’t feel like myself without some blush and a little smoky burgundy eyeliner. I wonder what other people think about the amount of makeup I wear, not in a self conscious way but I am genuinely curious if anyone else gives it any thought. Would love any perspective from you or anyone in the comments!

Oh man, I've got a waxy, heavyish Josh Rosebrook cream, Vital Balm Cream (unscented,) and I guess it's time to whip it out, and on, for winter. Oh, and I wish more cosmetic lines had white base products. As I've said before, I've given up on trying to find a perfect match in foundation and concealer. The ones I'm using are Elizavecca Skin Liar Whitening Cream (I'm not a fan of the scent, but it dissipates,) and LA Girl Pro Conceal in lavender. The white is sheer, like a skin tint, and doesn't seem to have ingredients that my skin balks at, and the lavender is greyish, so it works well with my muted yet sallowing middle aged skin. If any of you are muted neutrals, or olives, and are as fair as HLP and myself, please look at these products. I'm not saying they *will* work for you, but they may be worth considering. I tried the pot version of NYX's lavender correcter, and an ingredient in it makes my skin feel like it's burning (skipping long ass thoughts about what my skin reacts to,) so I'm not touching it again. The only WA Baby Cheeks that I'm remotely curious about is Mimi, which is an exclusive on their site. I forget if you've demo'd that one. Also you should totally try some of nabla's creme to powder shadows (usually in palettes) - they are gorgeous and blend like an absolute dream. You would have loved the Dreamy 2 (mystic) palette, but I don't think they make it anymore.

For my mature rosacea ridden skin it is the best foundation I ever had. Good coverage but not cakey as you don’t need much. I thought it had fallen out of favour but you still seem to like it. Once you smudge out the LE eyeshadow, then intensify the mobile eyelid with the finger to intensify the creaminess effect. Give it a try this way :)

yea any cream to powder formulas are meant to use a brush never a finger . honestly only shimmer type style formulas (unless liquid or creams)are meant to work with fingers. Cream to powders are more like mattes. I hated that nars mascara lol did nothing!

I think the technique you use for eye shadow application will never work with Lisa Eldridge eye shadow formula. As that is made to be built up slowly in multiple layers and be malleable all the way, as that is her technique. Not to put on a blob and then spread it out, even though it sort of allows for that too, but then you end up with a very heavy smoky look right away as there is not much pigment that will go to waste in this product. You can also totally get the “shine” with this product too while applying it with a brush but you get it from at the end of the application either warm it up with your fingers or use a brush that can polish the surface. As what causes the shine is really the oils and waxes in the formula which needs a bit of warm up if your eyelids are a bit dry to begin with. It also comes through during the day as the make up sets. It’s a really unique and workable formula not like anything else on the market. As you can achieve both a very matte powdery look as well as a more lived in creamier one depending on your technique. ❣️

Her foundation! I wanted to love it but it so finicky! I hate using my fingers for foundation and it’s the only way it looks decent. I will declutter it eventually after I wrap my brain around the total waste of money!
