I personally loved BF1's gunplay, it challenges you to not only control recoil mechanically, but also control spread by bursting and shot-pacing, which is the mental game. Support class LMGs notwithstanding. Great vid Enders~

Still better than 2042. I have to add that in MY opinion BF V is a really fun game to play in the state that it is in now. Gunplay, running around, sounds and everything. I really like it, and yes I played it since launch. Looking at games purely from a factual standpoint does not work. We don't play the game on paper. Actually playing BF V feels really good to me. Better than the other BF games. I don't care if on paper the other games are better :) all I know is 2042 is worse on paper and when you play it. The weapons, gunplay, aim and all the rest feels like ............

Battlefield 1 really was a masterclass in how to make a BF game. Pretty much every aspect in BF1: sound, maps, gameplay etc was tailored to captivate veterans and newcomers. It is essentially THE Battlefield to play. Unfortunately, it was the last and may always be the last great BF, a masterpiece even.

Played bfv first then bf1, i got around 200 hours on bfv and for bf1 I'd say 30 max, i was a newcomer, it didn't captivate me, the gunplay was a straight downgrade from bfv from mu experience and no "good atmosphere" is not enough, it's a shooter, if gunplay ain't good then the rest suffer

I’ve seen multiple people in the bfv discord rally against me, convinced that the recoil system is consistent every time and is based on a learnable pattern. But there are two entire layers of randomness to the recoil, they couldn’t be more wrong. The only things I really liked about it are the in air ledge grabbing and rolling, I miss the ability to air strafe and slide like in bf4

You can still sorta BF4 jump slide. Just run and jump and crouch and do not touch any wasd keys. When you land, you'll sort of slide a bit. But it won't be a zouzou hitbox animation glitch. Also milsim boomers are already angry that JUST sliding exists in BFV. Imagine their salt if BF4 bunny hopping and air strafe was back lol.

If the random recoil is so bad then you can just burst or tap as it was in BF3/4/1? Obviously it's not you'll immediately get sprayed down by someone who had no issue controlling said random recoil because ultimately it's not difficult to control. I'd rather lose a gunfight cause I'm bad rather than because the other guy's gun decided to shoot straight and mine didn't and there was nothing I could do about it due to extremely inconsistent weapon spread.

I just started playing BF5 and to be honest this game deserved so much better. Coming from someone who mainly played BF1 I adore the change of pace and really digged the gun play, but the way how EA and Dice spat on the fans regarding the historical inaccuracies had their graves on retail, and sadly it's nothing but a hacker hive right now, hoping that the community somehow will save this game similar to Titanfall 2.

I hate it . They nerfed the soldier speed and the ability to jump making the infantry movement horrible. Some people confuse the smoother vaulting as movement when it's not movement it's a action while moving . Soldier movement in BATTLEFIELD has been horrible since bf4/hardline. And they also destroyed the prone speed . You cant even jump to prone

@@Jordblitz im not sure i understand what your saying. But imo BF1 BF5 BF2042 soldier movement is bad imo . Its slower compared to BF3/BF4 and they also nerfed jumping. And added a delay between crouching and going prone with is just bad for infantry players like myself that corner jump and jump to prone in a blink of a eye to win gun fights . Its all about being slick when you are a rusher . Dice with bf1 and bf5 ignored the core movement from BF3/BF4. Heck you cant even jump and shoot in bf1 and that shows just horrendous that movement system is . I dont need a slide in BATTLEFIELD. On BF5 i removed it from my custom mapping but it still had a slow time to just go prone which is bad also

I know that for many (most) people i will look like complete moron, but Battlefield V (and battlefield 1) is only two battlefields i enjoy after battlefield Vietnam and 1942. I tried every bf, but i didnt like bf2, bad company, bf3 not even bf4, hardline..... Battlefield V mostly because of movement, gun feel, fluid gameplay overall is my favourite battlefield game.

I can agree on the stuff you say about BFV failures but the question is: is BFV more enjoyable now than BF2042 now, and a lot of people would answer: yes. I think most sane people don't say 'bfv WASN'T that bad' but 'bfv ISN'T that bad'. There are so many things wrong in BF2042 that I'd rather play a game with random recoil and the rest things that are wrong. Maybe I've been just lucky not to met a single person saying the things you mentioned in the video.

BFV has such slight deviation in it's recoil patterns (aside from when DICE decided to mess them up) I find it hard to even call it random. It was pretty easy for me to learn most of the weapons in the game and understand their best engagement distances just by using it enough and learning the recoil patterns.

@@sb17899 thing is, the recoil is LITERALLY random, the gun has a set recoil pattern, then on TOP of that the game converts spread to recoil which makes your guns kick in a random direction with consecutive bullets

I think battlefield 5 was the start of Dice's mistake of drifting away from the hardcore element that battlefield always had. Bf5 had great visuals, but didn't have the other necessary elements to pull together an immersive atmosphere.

BF 5 was god damn awfull at launch and some time after launch, but now it is a decent game. I see what you are talking about with the gunplay and this is an aspect that will allways be subjectional because it differs from player to player. What you like in terms of gunplay might not be what someone else likes and vica verca. Imo the gunplay in BF5 isn't bad. Is it great? no, but its a LONG mile off from being the worste one. BF1 imo had the worst gunplay out of any BF games imo. And as stated. This is my opinion and you have yours. I can respect that.

Battlefield 5 was solid at its core🤷‍♂️ there were ammo and med stations at objectives don’t get mad because you didn’t have the attention span to pay attention to your health. The gun play was phenomenal. The squad call ins were a rewarding. There were some good memorable maps. The graphics were insane the sound design while a downgrade from bf1 was still insane. Mmgs we’re completely broken when mounted or proned (kinda like real life). Only 2 things were terrible in that game. 1 wokeness from the devs and the ttk changes. They killed the game when it was just entering its prime.

you, as a spectacular player, are a seriously small percentage of players, these mentioned gameplay mechanics will never get noticed by players that range from dogshit all the way to even great. during the game's life cycle they did some shady shit as you mentioned, especially with the ttk, but as it stands (with the sum of all the content that took forever to trickle out) bfv is an enjoyable game, that will get stressful at times. Exactly. While I respect Enders opinion when your likely in the top 1% of the players skill wise you are NOT the audience they are aiming changes at. Why? Cause the 1%, or Id even argue the top 15%, of any given game can easily adjust/deal with a mechanic. The spread in Battlefield 1 was hard to counter because the gun aimpoint didnt move to the location the next bullet was gonna go. In battlefield v you can always pull back to the starting point after each shot in full auto. the location of the aimpoint is almost always where the bullets flies in comparison to bf1 where it feels like the bullet bends the barrel. and the bullet completely misses the position your aimpot was aiming for. Battlefield v`s gunplay really is the better one at the moment.

Playing bf1 was a nightmare for me, people in that game look like rocks they are invisible even cranking the brightness to full is not enough. It was like fighting ghosts. And the gunplay in bf5 is more suitable for an arcade shooter than bf1.

BFV was a mess throughout it's lifespan. It was ONLY at nearly the VERY END of it's support that DICE started making changes that improved the experience. The attrition system might have been an interesting idea on paper/in development, but in execution it was absolutely atrocious. Thankfully, the ability to run up and grab ammo/health from support/medics was finally added, helping players compensate for it. Also, medic/ammo crate(s) AoE effect(s) was finally added into the game, albeit at a much reduced radius when compared to the superior previous BF games. Of course, this still depended on teammates to actually deploy such gadgets onto the BF. It's bad enough in a BF game that has health regen and no attrition, but coupled with those systems clueless teammates caused (still causes) frustration to peak into the red. Gunplay was never really good. Time to Kill was never ratioed correctly to Time to Die. It seems that most players today either never experienced this phenomenon or conveniently forgot it, but when BFV first launched it could take you several bullets to kill someone but you yourself would experience a "burst" of fire (from even single shot weapons) that would instantly kill you. There was no escaping it. The problem was tracked to the netcode (surprise that a BF game has netcode issues), but the (then current) developers had no idea how to fix it. Instead, they opted to change the "balance" of the weapons by messing with the TTK. This change effectively killed the game. The change was implemented before Christmas, and was no changed to the most-recent version until after the holidays (sounds familiar, doesn't it?). When the TTK was reverted, it wasn't a "true" revert at all. It was yet another "balancing" that throttled back the extreme TTK changes of the previous patch. Of course, it was "praised", but that was only due to it being MUCH better than the MESS that DICE had created. It did nothing to fix the actual gunplay issue(s). On top of this, DICE released guns that had stats from before the TTK changes, thus making those guns EXTREMELY overpowered. Two of these are the Type 2A SMG and the M2 Carbine (which is really just a "ranged" Type 2A). People still praise the release of the Pacific DLC, which WAS good and a STEP in the right direction, but it was NEVER balanced before DICE ended support for the game. This is why you have these OP weapons, and the Type 97 Tank being so much more powerful than the other tanks in the game. These are just some examples, but not nearly all of them. The game can still be fun, but make no mistake that BFV STILL has many problems that will NEVER be fixed.

BFV is my first time playing battlefield since i was a boy playing bad co 2, i really truly appreciate this game, especially after trying to play 2042, which doesnt necessarily mean bfv is good because 2042 is bad, and i agree with almost everything youve said about its issues, but to me its special, I joined into the game way after most of the issues you listed, but even so i can still see the flaws, however to me it is very enjoyable and the hacking is a but annoying if not comical at times, its few and far between now

Really the only people who still play BFV are people trying to scrape the bottom of the barrel due to 2042’s failure, cheaters, vehicle mains, and rats who continue to take advantage of limited health regen. Infantry play in BFV is 20 times worse due to limited health regen. Anything you basically do you’re punished. I can’t imagine spending over a hundred hours on this game with how awful this system is unless it was literally your job to put content out on the game. There’s just no excuse for a game like this to be this abhorrent and yet still have thousands of freaks according to player charts. Like they have got to be the strangest players you’ve ever met, I legitimately cannot get behind it.

BFV was horrible AT LAUNCH. I got rid of the game after 1 month when I understood we were not be getting any new and descent map before a very long time. Because the first new map was fcking Panzerstorm. BUT NOW it s one of my FAVORITE game ever.

Was BFVs recoil always random? I remember early in the lifecycle getting a feel for the recoil patterns of certain weapons, then after one of the ttk changes everything felt off and noticed the gun bouncing every which way. Anyone else have this experience or am I making it up?

The base recoil was reduced when the 2019 ttk was introduced.

Tbh ive been saying bfv aint that bad since it came out, but i did only ever snipe and pilot so i personally didnt notice 90% of the problems people had. I did like vehicles having to resupply ammo. Health not so much. Visibility was bad, but it shouldve never been a problem in the first place, dont know y they didnt just reskin bf1 to keep the same visuals. My biggest complaint throughout: where tf is my 8x scope and m1903. M1903 is a classic ww2 rifle, and in every single bf ive always used the 8x, now i have to adapt unnecessarily. Movement was my favorite in the franchise. Crouch running, prone stances were some of my favorite features and wish every game had em. Squad wide "scorestreaks" were also awesome, finally something to incentivise booger eaters to do some squad play. Reinforcements like the sand bags and tank traps were awesome too.

I agree and disagree. Agree: I hate how people change their opinion on something in the past because something newer is disappointing. People say that about prequel SW due to the sequels. I also like how you remind people of what was wrong with BatV when it released. Disagree: I get the impression you haven't played BatV with friends consistently. Just the fact that BFV don't have suppresion already makes the gunplay better than BF1 or BF3. Horizontal recoil does the same shit that any other spread mecanisme does, it makes guns fights more random and put a effective range one the weapons. But it comunicates that something is happing instead of bending bullets to the left and right with a barrel not moving left and right. While the game had issue left and right (just like BF3 and BF4, with BF4 probably being the worst release after 2042), the gunplay was for sure one of the better ones DICE made. Movment is also the best I've seen from DICE.

To me BF4 and BF3 had the best gunplay. It was fast and rewarded spread control and recoil control. To me the issue with BF5s gunplay was that it boring, unrewarding, and extremely slow. The recoil is also super bouncy which makes it random is many areas. You shouldn't be shot like 6 times and run away fine. If you peak wrong or run infront of a mass of people you shouldn't be a bullet sponge. That's kind of the reason I dislike bf1s gunplay as well. Also the gameplay changes and stuff suck in BF5. Not being able to heal without a medic sucks, Built in needles suck, picking up ammo off dead teammates sucks, smaller and shorter games is mediocre but okay, gunplay is wack, cosmetic system sucks, progression is boring and unrewarding. I know people are going to hate this take but the movement felt unhuman and weird. Something i like about both BF4 and BF1 is the little focus on advanced movement. It goes for a more minimalistic and grounded approach and makes it feel more real and immersive. It doesn't matter how shit bf 2042 is it doesn't make bf5 a good game. The only thing that bf5 has over other games is vehicle balancing between infantry.

So, I’ll probably get a lot of hate for this but I disagree. I think that BFV is a fun game. I like it better than BF1. Maybe it’s not the best game but I liked it and I think it’s sad that they stopped content to that game in favor to BF2042 now that we see how that turned out. I would have liked to see more stuff from BFV in BF2042. But maybe that’s just me. Have a good one and hope to see you all on the battlefield anyway.

The micro movements removal. Air control and you couldn't jump with momentum and 360 jump. If it was a more defined movement system based on bf3-bf4-bfh it would actually be good. But when they remove mechanics that are top tier. They fucked the game. Same goes with bf1. Enders on point again.

I kinda have to agree with your points and it's great you didn't focus on finance and marketing fiasco the game has had. Though there was one thing that ( at least in my opinion ) kept the game playable even though it was trash. And I mean movement system. It was polished and improved over the years and seeing 2042 movement system had its peak in V. It gave you so much flexibility on how you wanted to take on firefights that I missed it all already in 2042 tech test which I was lucky to participate in. And sadly, they didn't give a damn about players' input.

Hackers, random recoil, horrible tank and airplane balance, terrible TTK where it takes over half a magazine to kill someone 10m away and bad visibility. BF made me quit multiplayer games all together since they just aren’t fun and frustrating to me, I am horrible at FPS but there are a lot of moments where I can actually blame the game for my deaths which to me I just could not stand anymore.

also people talk about how class readability is gone in 2042 (which is somewhat true and is a problem in its own right) but completely ignore that this was the case in BFV as well. not saying i'm against player customization necessarily (i actually like skins they're fun), but objectively, completely abolished class readability in BFV (without the HUD/UI) since any class can wear any skin/set/combo. like, whether that matters to you or not is one thing and subjective, but it is just a fact that they got rid of it in BFV and that whole thing started in that game.

I would say that BFV's gun play had an advantage over BF1 in that BF1 had the worst meta problem in all of BF games with the Hellriegel. I did enjoy BF1 but I didn't feel as if the whole spectrum of weapons were as viable as BFV. Also, gas grenades. In ww1 they threw gas grenades when close quarters combat was about to happen...like never. They didn't even have gas grenades. But gas grenades were ubiquitous in game and affected gun play all the time. Gotta put my gas mask on. Now I can only hip fire. All frickin' game sometimes. They should've implemented gas in a more appropriate way like having certain artillery pieces having the ability to fire them on some maps.
