00:00 FAT Part 1 FAT tells the far-fetched but completely true history of how our country became so unhealthy. How is this possible with the non-stop flow of new diets, exercise machines and our general obsession with health and weight loss? We're as unhealthy as ever. The truth is that we have pretty much had everything completely upside-down and backwards. FAT traces a detailed history spanning 150 years to show how misinformation and outright lies have become "truth." 1:23:46 FAT: Part 1 "Common knowledge" regarding healthy eating has grown more and more confusing. Vinnie Tortorich and a host of health experts talk about the conflicts between plant eaters and meat eaters and how hidden machinations in the food industry are the reasons why we believe what we do about food and optimal health

"but completely true" FYI Science ~ Make an observation or observations. Form a hypothesis - a tentative description of what's been observed, and make predictions based on that hypothesis. Test the hypothesis and predictions in an experiment that can be reproduced. Analyze the data and draw conclusions; accept or reject the hypothesis or modify the hypothesis if necessary. Reproduce the experiment until there are no discrepancies between observations and theory. What you've done here is collect a Mish mash of "opinions", that's exactly what caused the problems pointed to in this meandering documentary. Yes low fat is bad, that doesn't then mean eating red meat is good, and yet zero evidence is brought forward to support this opinion. "Eat bacon!" 🤦♂️ FFS cured meats are high in nitrates, PAHs, HCAs, and AGEs

Hospitals, doctors offices and schools should be places where good nutrition is taught and provided not places that contribute to disease and obesity. It is crazy the hospitals are feeding people the very food that caused the heart disease, high blood pressure or cancer that they are treating. Every person in the hospital should receive some nutrition education before being released. Every doctor visit should be an opportunity to educate patients about how food choices impacts their health outcomes. The fact that doctors do not get nutrition training as part of their training makes no sense. Medicare and Medicaid should require nutrition education as part of patient care. Focus should be on food choices. Fasting should be investigated as a treatment for disease.
@steadystackin72502 күн бұрын
Many hospitals have gotten way better with patient options. Not perfect but way better than they used to be. Recently had a baby and was very nervous about the food options, but they had a lot of decent stuff for every kind of diet. Now the cafeteria on the other hand... absolutely terrible
@janetmartin93722 күн бұрын
Pretty much everyone is given some nutrition education when leaving the hospital. Even if it is just eat your fruit and veggies. You need tonloose weight, junk food is bad. You have to be living under a rock to not have heard that. People need to take responsibility for themselves. Thinks like insulin need to be adjusted around what a pt is going to eat not what they should be eating or they will be back out with high sugar almost immediately.

TLDR : junk in> junk out. Longer version : ultra processed foods are bad for you, they are full of easily digestible carbs (sugar) and sugar. This produces a sugar spike, your mitochondrion can't handle that and call in Insulin. Unfortunately the meat part is misdirection and clearly not science based, but entirely opinion. This program (media) used a hook of truth then sells a lie that you need red meat.

As a Vegan, I didn't mind the references to how eating red-meat can help your overall health, but I feel that with all the "blaming" they're doing in this video, they should have mentioned the enviornmental crisis of breeding cattle for food consumption. They also have a responsibility to mention the damage that the process of producing red-meat does to the world! The fact that there are "other reasons" as to why people are not eating meat!

Processed food manufacturers need to hear from consumers that less ADDED chemicals, sugar, oil and salt is wanted in their food products. Why is there so much ADDED sugar in everything, even bread. That's just crazy Email, text, tweet or phone your favorite producer of poison and let them know consumers want less salt, oils and sugars in their products. Let their customer service department know that all the extra added salt, oil and sugar is not necessary or desired and is causing health issues. Reduce or eliminate highly processed food from your diet if you can. Go vegan for your health, whole food plant based. Go vegan for the animals. Go vegan for the planet. Go vegan and be healthier and happier. A lower risk of heart disease and cancer for you and a better planet for everyone, human and animals. Eating healthy is not a diet it is a healthy life style. Go out and look around. The vast majority of people you see are obese or al least over weight. People do not need to be fat shamed BUT being over weight is not healthy and leads to a host of illnesses. When you look around you can see all the unhealthy people without taking a blood test or a fitness test "NORMAL" for the average American is "UNHEALTHY" The health of society is in decline.

You are what you eat. Your diet impacts your health. Lower stress, reduce obesity, get enough sleep and more exercise are key to a healthy life. Obesity in children and adults is rising across the world. Fast food and sugary drinks including fruit juices are contributing to the problem of poor health and obesity. Eat a healthy plant based diet and exercise regularly. Reduce or ELIMINATE cows milk, eggs, cheese and meat. Eat more salad greens, beans, fruit and vegetables. Eliminate fast food, snacks like cookies, cakes, chips, and sugary drinks and juices. Every adult and child should own a bicycle and ride it regularly. Regular exercise will help you sleep better. Yoga is a great stress reducer. Obesity is all too common today. Get off the couch. Get off the phone, ipad or video game. A variety of stretching and other exercises help with increased mobility. Ride to work, ride to school, ride for fun. Every city should be a bicycle city. Speak up for bicycles in your community

Most of them live in food deserts where there are no grocery stores, and even if getting nutritious food was available, they couldn't afford it. Unfortunately, there are many obese people who are unable to lose the weight for various reasons. For many, eating healthier and exercising more isn't going to be an available option. Many people are living day to day with significant stress that makes it almost impossible for them lose weight.
