Scene Summary
Otto gives Malcolm his old car in exchange for driving Marisol and her children in his new Silverado EV.
Tommy discovers one day that Otto failed to clear the snow off his walkway. When Marisol and Tommy visit Otto's home, they discover him dead from his enormous heart. There is a funeral, and his neighbours are there. Otto claims in a letter to Marisol that his lawyer will allow her access to his bank accounts, giving them enough money to support her family, as well as his new car and house.

this makes me truly feel what it meant that you cannot take your money with you upon death that i should treat myself better financially and not be too stingy on myself. in the end, when you grow old, what matters is how you spend quality time with loved ones and good health. Money in the end being sufficient to live a decent quality of life is good enough.

Like the Whale, another great movie which I stumbled upon and just fell in love with the charm, gentle humor... the change and transition and hope. Just loved it and the cast.

@@stanmo4331 I know what I meant, both are great films. I just like A Man Called Otto since it’s somewhat happier. The Whale is very depressing. And Tom Hanks performance as Otto was amazing, I’m shocked why he didn’t receive a best actor nomination but Brendan Fraser in The Whale definitely deserved it since Tom has been well established for many years but Brendan’s career was going downhill and The Whale helped bring him back to the spotlight

The man tries to kill himself multiple times and every time there is a sign that he shouldn't. Overtime, he becomes more loving and grows closer with this family. And he learns to live again. How is that not a story??

@@bradjames6748 We did not join the war to "save anyone's ass". We got involved to defeat Fascism and Imperial Japan due to us being attacked by Japan, and Hitler actually declared war on us. What either of those facts have to do with European films vs. US films escapes me.
