Nuland said that the peace treaty that they wrecked in 2023 had Ukrainian territorial integrity (minus Crimea, but as the ambassador said, it was never really Ukrainian anyway) and demand Ukrainian neutrality. So, why, after all this pointless killing, should the Russians not take some sort of retribution? This could have been over in 2023, but Zelensky thought it would be cute. EVERY Nation regardless of whom they border must decide for THEMSELVES their own destiny, system of governance, preference of trade, system of laws, education ... etc. Russia gladly left the USSR even before Ukraine, Georgia and Kazakhstan did !! They cant patch it back together now. The agreements of 1991 were binding and it was Russia who agreed for ALL its neighbours to be independent from Russia - Soviet influence and pressure. The real question is "Does Ukraine want to be part of the EU or NATO?" They are different organizations. One for economic integrity, the other for war provocation whenever possible. Russia never had a problem with its neighbors being in any economic bloc. So, if Ukraine wanted to be in the EU bloc they should have applied to EU membership, not NATO.

All Ukraine had to do was to abide by the Minsk agreements. That is all they had to do and this war could have been avoided. The Minsk agreements called for Ukraine to stop bombarding, shelling and laying siege to the People of Eastern Ukraine. It called for Ukraine to give the Ethnic Russian people of Eastern Ukraine autonomy, not independence. It involved Ukraine respecting their language, culture, religion, individual freedoms and equality before the law to Ethnic Ukranians That is all Russia asked for. Russia was even prepared to discuss about the future fate of Crimea in the future with Ukraine in the proposal they gave Ukraine in Istanbul. Russia was ready to remove all of its forces in Eastern Ukraine Ukraine refused to abide by the Minsk agreements before February 2022 and refused Russia's proposal in Istanbul in March and April 2022. Now Russia ain't going anywhere by Westwards and the longer Ukraine continues to fight the more the Ukranian military will be destroyed as a fight force until there is no more Ukrainian military left and Russia decides to go back and take much more territory till it's heart contempt. Russia might also decide thst the government in Kiev needs to go and so will the Ukrainian state need to go as well.

I’m not into politics, but negotiations must begin however tough they might be to end the war, because thousands of people are dying every day. I think that would be the most human thing as of right now. The western position so far has been crazy, pursuing this irrational belief of defeating Russia. Btw, I’m not supporting Russia, I have a lot of bad things to say about this country and its people, although I tend to agree with some of Putins point on nato expansion and so on.
