What I love about the Umbral Choir is the fact it's a benevolent Extra-galactic void-mind entity that literally heard the death cries of the Endless and wished to go and help them... but arrived way too late to do anything - but life have begun anew and beings are travelling the galaxy - The Umbral Choir does not wish for more races to utter such painful deathcries again, so they will protect everyone... even if it is against themselves. And they look spooky... but is anything BUT hostile. They wish to help you, save you, if you'd merely just LET them.

Games like this one are for people that don't mind the odd loss here and there due to circumstances out of your knowledge or control. You learn as you go and as you do, the challenges you can beat and the ones that threaten you keep changing and growing. It's a game that keeps you engaged from start to finish. Highly recommending his Starsector review. The game is amazing and so is the review. I watch Sseth because his reviews are hilarious, he plays many of the same games I do and the ones he reviewed that I didn't play, I picked up and enjoyed. He usually reviews gems in the rough.

I actually started playing the game because of SsethTzeentach's video, and I fell in love with it. But I usually watch his videos simply because they are entertaining. This game just clicked with me I suppose. The learning curve was alright. There is a lot of stuff you have to look out for in this game, but you learn that by playing the game. Most things are even self-explainatory once you put a few hours into the game.

"Stellaris" is a much more simple 4X game that's usually on sale for pretty cheap, if you guys are interested in this type of game. Endless Space is much cooler imo, but it's only for PC, that's the price you pay.

I play both Endless Space and Stellaris. I like Stellaris a bit more, ironically cause I find it more complex :) But its true you need a qadrillion dlc's and a bunch of mods to really enjoy Stellaris.
@dontshanonau1335
@dontshanonau1335 3 жыл бұрын
I also think Stellaris is more complex if you have all the DLC. It doesn't HAVE to be... you can drive a barebones economy and try to just conquer everything. But you can make it so much more complex by simply trying to coexist with at least one different group. Doesn't even have to be other empires, can be upliftet planets, AI, genetically varied groups of your species, refugees, religious groups, and so on.

I'm sure most people who watch Sseth are ones who share the same interest in the genre of games he plays like me. Not all games he's tackled I played, but he's entertaining enough that I'll watch it, also if I'll like it to play myself. The games he's reviewing tends to be ones that you won't usually hear from other game reviewers, you have to be deep in certain genre's/groups to be aware of it.

Being a big fan of the Genre of the 4X strategy games, i just dive in and go for full trail and error. With the main reason for the driving force is the sheer options available to you. He expands the games but most of the time they are very simple once you take a few minutes to have a look, endless space is turn based so you have all the time in the world to read and understand the mechanics. Been gaming all my life so it's more reflexive than anything to learn and play, best way to learn is to start and not think about mastering it, you will find you did that as you failed forward.

38:40 I watch cuz I'm entertained and I get good recommendations. I love these type of games, be Stellaris or RimWorld (which sseth has a review on and it also made me buy it, also found his channel from that). Generally, they aren't that complex and easy at the start, it's just in the mindset to fail and retry multiple times and learn along the way, which as a scientific spirit person, I love. Rimworld is the prime example I now play with 300+ mods n haven't "won" yet. His games are more of a type of learning experience and not about winning most times but trying to win n learn the game along the way.

Endless Space 2 is a lot of fun. The learning curve is actually not that steep, and it does a good job of slowly introducing new aspects of the game. It looks kind of overwhelming in this video, but the fact that it's turn-based means you can take your time, and a lot of the more complicated features aren't introduced until you've already gone through several turns.

Actually the game is fairly easy to play. Cuz you start out with one system, basic tech, etc. You more or less learn via drip-feed as you unlock more tech, you get a bit more stuff that can be done. I've played ES2 for about 100+ hours. I've found the best way to play it if you want a more relaxing experience is to play the game on the Slow speed with a large galaxy and 4-5 AI opponents. The Slow speed lowers the the rate at which your resources come in, which gives you more time/turns to figure out your plan and your options. Additionally, your scouting ships have 'extra' time to move around and find systems which can allow you to alter your plans without wasting resources.

To touch on Zach's question at the end: More often than not I've known the game and/or have already played it to varying degrees beforehand. So I mostly watch his videos for entertainment. For his take on the game. Since, as you undoubtedly noticed, he has a very unique style of commentary, video editing and playing games. Tough I am also always interested in the mechanics for the games that I haven't known before or have not touched myself. So, more or less, I watch the videos primarily for him. And only secondarily for the games. Usually. I guess.

I tried getting into Endless Space 2 but it would keep crashing, nothing takes me out of a game more than technical problems like those so I just gave up. Not exactly about Endless Space 2, but I got into the DCS series of simulator modules ages ago, some of these modules are study level simulations of various military aircraft where as many of the airplane's real life systems are modelled. The learning curve for these modules is therefore, by extension, about as steep as if you went in and learned the real aircraft, with the included manuals being these gargantuan 500+ page PDF documents explaining what every single switch, knob and button in the cockpit does. It took me several months of cramming to become competent with the plane I chose to learn, and at no point during the process did I ever think "this is too hard" or "this is too much to cram into my peabrain." Was it a fun experience? Not really, but rather, it was all just oddly satisfying to challenge myself into learning it, and in the end finally figuring it all out. And much like learning a language, once I figured out this one plane, subsequent aircraft in the DCS series were all much easier for me to start learning and becoming competent with in a quarter of the time it took me to learn the first one.

Sseth's videos feel like they are edited and scripted to be overwhelming on purpose. there is no time to think about what he is saying. no time to read the screen shots of conversations or absorb the memes (without pausing). no pauses between sentences even. it makes for a very interesting video and is probably why he is popular. they are so dense with information. but i have watched his videos on games i am familiar with and thought "That was confusing as hell. if i wasnt already familiar with the game i would barely understand what is happening." him saying the game is relaxing points to fact that he took a turn-based relaxing game and made a video that is basically an overwhelming clusterf*** of information. albeit a fairly well thought-out clusterf***.

Sseth's videos are extremely entertaining and make me want to play these games. :D I also played Endless Space 2 before watching his video about it. It made it even funnier for me. The game can be a little overwhelming at the beginning, but you get the hang of it pretty quickly.

might be interesting if you guys did either in the same video or a separate one where you try to play the game and give your thoughts on reviews vs actual gameplay

Ah yes, Endless Space 2 - an honestly fantastic game. Now, if only the multiplayer didn't have some almost-game-breaking bugs... I'd love to see you guys react to all of the faction intros! The Endless Universe channel has a playlist with all of them here (if YT lets me post a link, anyway...): kzbin.info/aero/PLMifTffa0JyDa3ogFMBl0H9PkJCvyQcys

Amazing video! If you can I suggest you two react to "Requiem for pizza: The meeting" and "Requiem for pizza: part 2" by ItalianNija. Possibly in the same video as they make more sense together!

If you want to play this game I'd recommend one of two things. Just jump in and hope for the best, any experience is better than zero. Or you could play something like age of empires or planetary annihilation. Playing a real time strategy will make you feel very relaxed in a turn based one

I like seth. haven't played any of the games he talks about, but he just brings a joy to it all that I want to try some of them. Would love to try out Endless Space 2, but at the moment, not sure if my PC can handle it lol.

I watch a Lot of sseths videos. Mostly because sseth makes it a Lot more enjoyable to watch as a review. But I've also played some of the games he have reviewed like pharaoh and might and Magic 5. Both are some of my childhood favourites. I've also played other games as well and even bought some because of his review.

Holy shit we legit still have "reaction" channels on yt still? Do people really just steal other people's videos and post their face over it and call it "content"?

UberDanger's Fallout NW review is a cinematic experience and his content is popular with the audience of the other people you react to
