I love the little touches Amplitude put into their universe. The way the mirror creates duplicates of Horatio, in much the same way as their cloning technology created the faction in and of itself. Amplitude are my favourite studio going right now.

We do get an idea of the Virtual Endless though in the appearance of the Haunts from Endless Legend, who are damaged Virtuals, and from the Vodyani, who are using the same tech as the Virtual Endless in order to survive, which presumably means their appearance is derived from what the Endless looked like, especially because they worship the..

Jonathan Stalwart Horetio was born to one of the eighteen lost human colony that were sent off in the late 20th century. Due to a radiation leak to the colony ship the people had a high rate of mutation as so they devoted most of their science into curing the mutation in the people. Not all of mutations were detrimental some had develop beneficial traits to to there genetic mutations both on the cellar level and physical. The mutations range from having an extra digest on hands and feet or more organs and odd pigmented skin. To some being able to see into the ultraviolet or a second row of teeth or even developing a new sensory organ. In Jonathans case he had developed enhanced cerebral abilities that surpass anyone in the colony. Other than than the shape of his cranium his was a perfectly normal human from the neck down. He was not the first with increase mental abilities in fact the colony has had a long history to be wary of those with that mutation. Thought those individuals have brought great advancements fro the colony they came at terrible price that never ended well. that's why most children born with that trait are kill after birth on but Jonathan survives that faith dude to merciful people. Those like Jonathan who survive threw the cracks in our society were sect to the great university to focus their abilities for the betterment of us all. I remember when he arrived threw the universities doors, he must have been only five at the time. Over the years Jonathan become excelled in his studies and even cured the mutagenic probity in the colony. Some years after mutation ended a new genetic crisis hit the colony infertility. After an investigation to prove Jonathan had nothing to do with the colonies infertility they allowed him to help find a cure. Thirty year had passed and still no cure and most on the colonist were middle age. Due to the dwindling man power no one had time watch over Jonathan witch gave him time to work on his own alternative solution to save the colony. When he finally revile his solution frustration would be putting it mildly. Many say he had cross the line others said he was playing a mad game with his secret project but his solution was in a way did save the colony. The "We" Jonathan refer filled many under staffed and under man areas of the colonies infrastructure, as well Jonathan now had more "people" like himself in the world. Even though Jonathan still worked hard on a cure the non Horetio populous of the colony felt betrayed and left to die so most of them decided to end themselves. The rest were either too afraid to kill themselves or believed in Jonathan was finding a cure, I was in the ladder. In any case what ever good a cure would do us now will seem pointless, most of the original colonist are now in there golden years and the Horetio have been taking good care of us in are old age. The Horetio have grown in enormous numbers in so short a time. They have transformed the colony into a full blown metropolis with arcologies all over the planet. Technology has advance more rapidly that I could imagine. Me and the other colonist have been given the chance by the Horetio to have de-aging and even life extending gene therapy. I herd of a few willing to try it but most politely decline the offer, simply putting it they just wanted to die sooner than hold on to a world were they have no propose in anymore, I sadly thought the same. The last big new I heard of the Horetio on my death bed was their push into space. I can't imaging what that could mean or what the Horetio will do out there. All I could hope for is if they all were really like Jonathan down to a T I could die in peace in that thought.

I remember being never a fan of Horatio in ES1. Sure, the lore was the same as it is now in ES2, but damn, this intro is amazing and changing Horatio gameplay from "Yaaaay you can clone heroes" to "OMFG you can gene splice the entire universe" is a step I absolutely love. Not my favourite ES2 faction because Amplitude made others just more awesome, but definitely a great improvement.

I love to think that Horatio's share the same memories about childhood and past overall. And if you happened to be not The First Horatio you would experience weird (but cool) identity feeling: You would think that You are the Horatio. You became rich, independent. Found out how to clone yourself (for the greater good of course). Started an experiments. And then, one day, you wake up and you've been told you actually one of many clones. And that makes perfect sense. The real Horatio might be probably dead long ago (I mean - aging is a thing) anyway. But they all feel like they are gorgeos, successful billionares. Thats awesome...
