Completely agree! So frustrating because they had so much momentum going at this stage but Blackmore wanted more money and less work since Rainbow was his project and required more time and effort than just being a member of Purple. It seems he regretted that decision because he had already grown tired of being back with DP after only one album and one tour with them. By the time it came to record the second album post reunion he was far more interested & excited about mixing Rainbow's "Finyl Vinyl" album. Probably why he pushed to bring in JLT to replace Gillan when the time came.

speed metal 80s track very fast and good, some lines there found later on the battle rages on album, blackers had his amazing octave sound... nobody came near to his playing in his prime, joes voice is great, Rosenthal keyboard materful played...what a great band rainbow was and still is.

One of the new "version" of "Spotlight Kid"... Blackmore has done several along the years in that kind of speed and catchy track that influenced many bands and styles of metal after them (Stratovarius to name just one).

One of the greatest, yet underrated bands from the 70,s and 80,s superb live rendition of this superb song…. Gotta love rainbow and all of the incarnations some fantastic albums and live material… this guys and galscis how we used to do it in the old days, no thumping bass and repetitive mind numbing lyrics, no gangsta rap with your pants falling down your arse pointing fake guns wearing gold teeth and talking shit

I loved Joe Lynn Turner's voice from the moment I first heard"I Surrender"! He was so gorgeous too! He's one of my all time favorites still! Give a listen to him in Deep Purple's "Masters & Slaves" album - he sounds great! Especially the songs "The Cut Runs Deep" & "Wicked Ways"!!! Releasing the boring & lethargic "King of Dreams" to radio was a mistake & killed the album's (& the band's) success.

Totally! Radio played it too safe for this exciting song. When JLT was in Deep Purple, they only released "King of Dreams" to radio. What they should have released was "The Cut Runs Deep" & "Wicked Ways"!!! Those 2 tunes had energy & edge & could've really propelled Deep Purple back to glory! They really dropped the ball there! The boring "King of Dreams" unfortunately banished this incarnation of Deep Purple into Rock 'n Roll obscurity.

Richie made a big mistake when he disbanded rainbow form the short lived deep purple gig. According to JLT they were going to do one more album then have a break anyway, the way the album's were progressing it would have been a barnstormer By the way I'm not a hater I've been a fan of Richie, deep purple and rainbow since I was an egg

Well, the opening riffs are essentially the same. Fire Dance was faster tempo and standard tuning. Battle Rages On was much slower and used dropped D tuning on the E/6th string. That's really the ONLY similarities. The overall song (the verses, solo, lyrics) are COMPLETELY different. I like both songs.
@elenka.svaliva27 ай бұрын
@@incarnate6779 riff the same. Also, who said there was drop D tuning? I thought Blackmore never used it.
@incarnate67796 ай бұрын
@@elenka.svaliva2 That's what I already said! The ONLY difference is on Battle Rages On, Blackmore tunes his 6th string down to D. ONLY the 6th/E string. He doesn't tune all the strings to this method as a lot of current/modern metal bands do. Yes, it's something he typically wouldn't normally do but to make it sound heavier that's exactly what he did. How do I know? Because I play guitar and if you want to play along and sound like Blackmore you need to down tune your 6th string. Whereas on Fire Dance he uses the usual standard tuning but plays it at a much faster tempo. Hope this helped explain things.
