If lectures were given in this manner, medical school would have been a lot less stressful.

I don't have a diagnosis, at 38, for many reasons. One doctor, for example, refused to send me for testing because my periods were "too regular," and would only give me opioids. I changed doctors after that.

I'm sorry - it may be quite a while until I get to it. In the meantime, here is a decent review article on the topic (not behind a paywall): www.amjmed.com/article/S0002-9343(15)00430-1/pdf

Thanks alot Dr Eric Strong....what are the success rates of ovarian punctures as treatment option for endometriosis secondary to PCOS.
@StrongMed3 жыл бұрын
Endometriosis and PCOS can co-exist, but I am not aware of any evidence of a direct cause-and-effect relationship between the two; a quick literature search didn't turn up one either. I have not heard of the use of laparoscopic ovarian drilling for endometriosis, but regarding the use of ovarian drilling for treatment of infertility related PCOS, I think the jury is still out (i.e. we don't yet have enough high quality data to make a definitive statement on its success rates) - but it's definitely considered a second-line treatment (first line is medical/hormonal). Here's a recent comprehensive review of ovarian drilling: www.cochranelibrary.com/cdsr/doi/10.1002/14651858.CD001122.pub5/full

Question: What are the typical manifestations of endometriosis in postmenopausal women? E.g., I would assume it's rather chr. than cyclical pelvic pain, even worse dyspareunia, etc.? Good video :)

I sorta got a bit of it here and there, but I’m just gonna say it: I’m just an average guy, so you’re gonna need to show me some diagrams to fully understand how it works and how it differs from other similar diseases. At the end of the day, it’s more of a “this is a bad disease to have” rather than a “this is what the disease is and how it looks” for me. Well, I’m no med student, but I still wanna understand the things I watch a bit more.

how to prevent endometriosis ?
@StrongMed3 жыл бұрын
Based on the suspected mechanisms of how endometriosis develops, I would suspect that birth control pills would help to lower the risk of getting it to begin with. However, a quick search of the scientific literature failed to turn up any direct evidence of that. And I've never heard of a physician prescribing birth control specifically for that reason.

Hm? I didn’t think this was under appreciated at all. Then again, my mom is a doctor, and most of her friends are female doctors.

I have PCOS and I remember how I felt when the doctor told me it would be hard for me to conceive. I now have 4 children, very successful pregnancies. God blessed me with use of herbs !
