On the one hand, there's the issue of Government or State Monopoly on the other hand, there's the issue of Free Market Dominance which occurs from time to time even in a Freely Competitive Market. However, both these conditions usually have the negative effect of ignoring Vital Welfare Practices that need to be provided to Citizens and Civilians of a Country, especially in the Stabilization of certain Basic and Essential Parts of the Economy through Price Controls of Basic and Essential Products or Services that increase the Standard of Living of every day Citizens in the Economy. In my opinion, this is what the Government of Nigeria needs to be focused on in order to achieve the maximum results that it needs to increase the Welfare and Profitability of its Citizenry and eventually it's Economy.

The Guest is wrong. He is confusing subsidies US provide companies in the Alternative energy sector tk encourage the economy to move to clean energy. Infact non of the G-7 countries of biggest economies run any sort of subsidy on petroleum products at the pumps, they only intervene when there is usually high prices in global oil market that affects their domestic sales. Channels should do better by fact checking such notions to further educate their viewers

You are fundamentally wrong. The US government still subsidizes energy and just last year, the Biden administration released their strategic oil reserves in order to stabilize the pump price of petrol and other products. The Nigerian government is quite insensitive to the plight of her citizenry and that's a shame.

We're tired of hearing these so called analysts. Their analyst hasn't helped so they should leave us alone to chart a new way and a new way of thinking

It's not the fault of analysts, it's the tone deaf government that is the cause of our problems. They blame smuggling for the hike in price. Rather than stop or fight it, they punish the common folk and that's shameful.

@@chibikeojiako3239you are wrong. You lack basic knowledge in economics and world politics. The US does subsidize energy including PMS. A little research will do you some good.
