I’m sorry but If things become too complicated, then there is nothing but problems. I purchased a zoned Trane heat pump/ac and had nothing but problems for years. When I purchased an easy-to-fix, simple AC that just blew cold air with few parts, it always worked…when it broke, it was easy to fix. Simple units with solar panels are the way to go - you can keep your crazy, complicated technology. It always breaks down.

@@NewHVACGuide Lets be truthful. This is not about HVAC technicians or you. It is about the manufacturers. The key word in your statement is "anymore". Truthfully, the industry could easily manufacture solid, quality, simple units -- but they do NOT. It is all about their greedy board of directors and investors ripping off the public by -- selling more tools, increase refrigerant prices, and a 30% price increase for units. It is all about greed and profit. The first Lennox AC I purchased in 1986 is still working. It was solid and simple. Lets be truthful. Families cannot afford $10-12K for a new AC.. I know families that sleep in one room because they can only afford a window unit. I know retired police officers who live in a garage bedroom because he cannot afford a new AC for his house on his pension. The HVAC industry (manufacturers) are corrupt and greedy. However, most technicians I know are honest, good people, but they see the struggle of families and they try to help. The greedy, scumbag manufacturer CEOs only care about money -- not people. We all must stop passively agreeing with what manufactures slam down our throats -- in the name of the environment. 410a had a much higher GWP and higher pressures, which shortened equipment life. R22 had. much lower pressures. The industry is copying the computer industry with their "UPDATES" so we all have to purchase new equipment and they make more profit. ...ok, I'm off my soapbox LOL. I hope you can see my point. It is frustrating when I see good families and retired folks everyday who canNOT afford HVAC equipment...and struggle....and then I drive by the golf course at lunch hour and see HVAC executive playing golf at 11AM. It is sad.

@@NewHVACGuide my point is - everything is “over-engineered” and it make products extremely expensive for the average family. Many times updates and newer versions are NOT better. Companies change products to generate profit and money for CEOs and board members. That is corporate greed. It is backfiring. I noticed that nice neighborhoods are becoming “run-down” and in disrepair because people simply cannot afford it. Neighborhoods with elderly folks (fixed income on social security) are the worst. Everyone looses because of a few greedy executives.
