These explosions are triggered by BTs (Beached things) that try to enter physical bodies. To clarify this point, the world of the dead is an inverted reality to ours. All life comes from the sea. So, in the world of the dead, when you die, you appear on the beach, which basically is purgatory, and make your transition to the sea. BTs are spirits stranded in our world that failed to cross the beach and are looking for a body to return to. The cause of the explosion it's because 2 souls cannot habit the same body. That's how it happened in the beginning with the explosions across the US. It was just spirits trying to enter physical bodies.

If you don't like it I understand, but to call it a stinker just comes off as bitter and petty on your part. NPCs actually inhabited the world, allowing you to approach them and trigger interactions/ dialogue/ missions without interruption. Very organic and seamless. I don't like it. I love how Kojima's open world characters often feel absent outside of cutscenes, creating a disconnect that gives the world a distinctly _retro_ vibe. ☺

I wasn’t interested in the first game until it came out on the PS5. Absolutely loved it and played it non stop! This looks even weirder so I’m looking forward to it! Need to see gameplay though. The first one’s combat was good and I loved the bolo gun.
