I believe the .767” references the cartridge case length of the 38/200 which is this revolvers chambering.

Thank you for this video of the Enfield No. 2 Mk I* Revolver. The number "44" on top of the barrel is the year of manufacture. The "D" symbol on the right side is the RSAF (Royal Small Arms Factory) where Enfield Rifles and Revolvers were manufactured. There were two other foreign manufactures of the Enfield during WW 2, Albion Company out of Scotland and "Howard Auto Cultivators" out of Australia. These Enfields had the Company ID monogram on the right side of the frame and were the DAO Models only. The hammer spur was modified in the pre-war years of 1939 to double-action-only fire. The original round was the .38/200 cartridge, which is a 200-gr, lead round nose bullet that had a muzzle velocity of about 600-feet per second, with close to 200 foot pounds of energy point blank. This was a decent self defense load, but the Germans got to caterwauling about the round being a dum-dum round and same wanted change. So the British changed the round to a 176gr. full metal jacket round with ballistic-effect not equal to the former. This is what went into combat against the Germans P-38 and Luger P-08 9mm Pistols. Much help came from our S&W Victory Model .38's and Colt Commando .38's that fought along side the Enfield and Webley Revolvers of England. Hope this helps.

Spurless enfields were issued to tank operators. Spurs were getting caught on things in the tight confines of a tank. To prevent accidental discharges spurs were ground off.

I took another look at the Enfield Revolver of your video. I collect Infields and have never encountered a Enfield with the fine blue finish displayed on your revolver. Your Enfield has the blue finish that is comparable to Colt and Smith & Wesson of the 1940's time period. I was also able to notice that there was a marked absence of machining markings about the displayed areas. Very unusual for Enfields made during the war years. Can you ascertain any info on the beautiful finish?

Information is very limited, the revolver is not mine, but belongs to my shooting partner. He asked me to look up any info I could get, because he could not find anything. He thought it was a Webley, and couldnt find any info. He received the gun from his father in law, after he passed away. We dont know where it came from, or any history. I think the finish is quite unusual for a early war production arm, that would have likely served thru the war, and everything post war. The finish is very nice, but if it doesnt come thru on camera, the finish is not matching, the color and shine varies slightly on the different pieces of the gun. Wish we had more info, but we really dont. I told him it was likely refinished at some point by someone wanting to make it highly presentable, because I dont see any military refinishing taking this much time and attention in the bluing.

Brass roundel is an out dated disc for marking a unit or issue marking on, commonly found on rifle butt stocks from 1870s to ww1 ish, though they continue on in various places, 1944 and in a revolver is unusual and late though.

You probably know this, but it is my understanding that the.38/200 is essentially the .38 S&W with a 200 grain lead bullet. I believe that the .38 S&W can be shot in this revolver, but they have a 145 grain bullet. I have one like that but it’s in not nearly as good condition. It’s a little wobbly in lock up. I’ve also read that the spur less hammer was issued to tankers, etc. I have no idea what the 767 means.

Thanks for the info, I dont know much at all about this pistol, or British revolvers. These are new to me, but Im trying to learn more about them. I was wondering if this one is a commercial version, just due to the condition. But I cant find much info on the commercial pistols

@@AthensArmory303 I don’t know. I thought that Enfield was the British Government Armory, so I don’t know why they would make commercial guns. But I don’t know what the disc is for either, presentation model? Read about why the British government was sued by Webley for patent infringement, and was awarded a settlement. Interesting stuff going on back then.

@@AthensArmory303 The BNP (British Nitro Proof) means it was tested by the gov. before it was taken out of military service and sold to the general public. The "England" stamp should mean that it was exported as late as the mid 60's (I believe) before modern export marks were required. It was a military piece during the war.

Picked this up from my step dad it's in really good shape and got some ammunition to go with it. It's in shooting condition. Can't wait to try it out at the range on the top of the barrel mine says cal 38 on the right side mine says something 53. Can't read it tho any idea on the price tag of one of these.

Man that's lucky find I've been looking for one of those for years I saw several but all had damaged parts on them yours is an asterisk model for tankers and looks like a real peach I'm loving that h&r 732 guardsman I have I just got it says 32 sw but I read all of them are chambered in 32 long sw
