I'm an ENFP married to an ENFJ for 10 years, and the biggest difference I've found is that, while we both like the same things, he is in it for the responsibility, and I'm in it for the fun. SO if we like to take walks outside, he's doing it because exercise and fresh air are good for you. I'm doing it because I love exploring and seeing nature. This is good until a cold, gloomy day when I don't want to go because it won't be fun, and he insists because I still need exercise. Our motivations took different paths and now there's a fight. ;)

Might want to look more into the Perceiving and Judging dichotomy. Personality Hacker has some great thoughts on it. Where do you want (read: need) freedom/organization? Freedom in the outer world with structure inside? You’re a Perceiver. Organization outside so you can have the freedom in the inner world for your mind to wander where it may? You’re a Judger.

I am an ENFP and have been in a relationship with an ENFJ. I resonate with your analysis thoroughly. I like doing things as long as I keep my interests on. I hate being suppressed and esp, I run from people/ things which don't create any emotions for me. My partner is more of a responsible guy, he is headstrong with a big heart. He likes aesthetic kinds of stuff compared to me who likes shiny things. Even though we find common in most of our traits but when it comes to making sense of a situation/goals, I tend to lose focus and become flighty, as I feel weighed down. I also keep wondering why he comes out so successful in most things... coz He is Really very good achieving things, be it music to any leadership roles. He wants me to be more responsible in my life and career esp. and when these expectations don't meet, we lead to arguments where he feels not being understood enough...But as an ENFP, coz of our flighty nature, we don't reach that depth what an ENFJ expects. And these experiences of bad arguments and misunderstanding come as self-sabotaging to an ENFP, impacting their 4th trait.

Good thoughts. It is very true at the end you were talking about ENFPs using extroverted thinking and just wanting to jump in and use logical steps to get the job done and measure progress etc, but it often ignores our introverted feeling. I find this is often the case. The interaction of the cognitive functions is complex but I tend to jump in and then later find that my course of action isn't aligning with my values (Fi).
@GeekPsychology7 жыл бұрын
+Gemika Maloney Definitely. The auxiliary function is so incredibly important. It's just hard to listen to because we often don't have enough rapport built with it and patience for it. Keep at it! "Always let your conscience be your guide." ;P

The ENFP conscience is conflicted haha either in Ne Fi mode or Si Fi under stress. For me, realising that the extent to which I follow my core values my Si will launch an inner counter attack helps me to consciously choose Ne Fi and not feel guilty.

You’re so right about the ENFP’s thinking function. My Enfj friends get caught off guard when I go into heartless Te mode. One Enfj called me a robot when I was in a Ne-Te loop. Ne sees cool things and Te wants results NOW, so it is a conscious effort to go into slow and reflective Fi mode to see how I feel about things. Great video!

I always get ENFJ, but I know I am ENFP. After reading and studying the Enneagram, I learned that most ennearam 2w3, test ENFJs. I AM 2w3. I score higher on FE, because of my personality, rather than cognitive functions. Plus because I am 100 E, 98 O and 94 A, I score ENFJ, but I am really ENFP. Does that make sense? @bgbagustin91616 жыл бұрын
Hi! It was fun stumbling on this video. And I felt you've really hit homerun on some things. Might as well tell my story. :) Way back 2013-2014, I was an ENFP. And true, I was an "innovative gunner" because I was part of the student council, always coming up with new ideas, always Miss Sunshine of the group. But I wanted to be "behind the scenes" woman; I always wanted my ideas to be heard but did not want to be the "face" of the group; and always stirred things up to make a change. (IDK if that makes sense) I always dealt with things based on my previous experiences and moral standards. I was full of energy and ideas! There was this one time when I stirred things up and caused chaos and tears flowed because I voiced up my opinion on very delicate matters. HAHAHA I think it was my "newbie"-self getting the better of me. Lastly, I took the test again and now I'm an ENFJ. Currently in graduate school left me with so little energy for big crowds and I now have my labmates to work with. Most of the labmates seek my help or advise, feels like the Paladin character. Always immersed with my surrounding environment, too immersed sometimes. So right now, I'm everybody's confidant, willing to listen to their rants and frustrations, sitting side by side, or across a table for one-on-one drunk ranting. Always hearing "hey can you help me with ..." or the "hey I need to tell you something ..." from my companions. Apparently, most of them think I give the most sensible advises based their stories, its like "If I were you ..." line. HAHAHA. Always the one who speaks late in the conversation because I’m trying to assess the mood and where the conversation is going. Always the first to say "Uhhmmm. Your vibes is so heavy today. Anything you wanna share?". HAHAAH. Always being able to tell if a person is in a good or bad mood because of the vibes. Sometimes, when the vibes I sense is so strong, it can affect me too. So whenever I feel overworked, I really take my break and change my environment in order to recharge. More importantly, when there are opposing ideas during group discussion, I can suggest things that eventually leads to realizations of compromise between different parties. Feels like the "unifying cleric" role. HAHAHAH So yeah, I was kinda awestruck during and especially after watching the video. Lots of events and experiences flashed back as you describe each RPG role. HAHAAHA So yeah, I'm so thankful for this. And I've read some comments here and thinking about reading up on the cognitive functions. But I think I’m really much comfortable being an ENFJ rather than being an ENFP. AND OH! I just remembered, also, way back 2013, I was able to spend a short time with this exchange student and we got to the topic about the MB personality test. I said I was an ENFP. And he said " Oh yeah? I figured you're an ENFJ". HHAHAAH Sooo yeah, here I am 5 years later. Anyway, sorry for the long post. Thanks for this again! This is very helpful!

I must say, BRAVO! I can't exactly explain it...but I feel you've done something here extremely complex. You've basically stacked three different ways of explaining something...in a way that's easy for a beginner/intermediate person to MBTI to understand the differences between these two types. Like the metaphors you had, stacking on one another, to describe the nuances between the functions, as personalities, living within this larger construct, that IS a personality type, do you know what I mean?? Ya, I can't explain it. I know what you did though and I feel you've done it so well and so fluidly so it came across as simplistic, when it's actually not haha. Nevermind the garbage that just came out of my mouth lol.

a few years ago, i took the test a few times within a year & i always got ENFJ (with the J ratio almost leaning to P) but in more recent years, every time i take the test, i always get ENFP (with the P ratio near J). i’m a bit confused about why it happened but i concluded that it’s due to the phases of life & the different environments that i went through. but watching this video made me wonder if it’s possible to actually be both ENFJ & ENFP at the same time? because most, if not all, of the explanations/examples made sense to me & i was able to relate to them so much that it kinda scared me. if someone could give answers, that’ll be great!!!

The theory says you cannot be both. As you said though, different phases of life and environments will PULL ON different aspects, thus compelling you to (over)identify with them. Dig into the cognitive functions. It's more telling than the dichotomies like P/J. Hope that helps!

@GeekPsychology6 жыл бұрын
+V Theory Not knowing you, it’s hard to give a clear reason. The biggest issues come from it being a self-assessment with forced choice (Is it A or B) questions. Another reason there are changes comes from life calling our attention to different things, making us overidentify with certain aspects. You might be in a position, as an ENFP, where you need to be more organized and focused on achieving goals. This would pull on that “J” aspect and possibly get you to come out as an ENFJ despite it being wrong for you. Learn the cognitive functions if you want real insights.

Hey, I'm a bit lost with the mbti system. Do the letters in the "personality code" such as ENFJ somehow correspond to the intuition-feeling-thinking-sensing system? What also bugs me is that for example the first letter E/I is already extraverted/introverted, but they're all present in defining the functions. I'm also wondering about the order (preliminary, auxiliary..) and how it's defined. I mean, the division seems very structurized and definitive when in reality I've noticed my own personality balancing right between ENFJ/ENTJ/ENFP, depending on what different people and situations bring out of me. So yes, I'm a bit lost but also playing a bit dumb with my questions, anyway I'd appreciate if sb would shed a light. I've also watched many videos and read articles but still the whole logic is somewhat unclear. Peace out :)

Why don't you try to take an online test? Maybe it will help
Let's see: Fe(extrovert feeling) dominant are ENFJ(Fe-Ni-Se-Ti) and ESFJ(Fe-Si-Ne-Ti. Fi(introvert feeling) dominant are INFP(Fi-Ne-Si-Te) and ISFP(Fi-Se-Ni-Te). Te(extrovert thinking) dominant are ENTJ(Te-Ni-Se-Fi) and ESTJ(Fe-Si-Ne-Ti). Ti(introvert thinking) dominant are INTP(Ti-Ne-Si-Fe) and ISTP(Ti-Se-Ni-Fe). Se(extrovert sensor) dominant are ESFP(Se-Fi-Te-Ni) and ESTP(Se-Ti-Fe-Ni). Si(introvert sensor) dominant are ISFJ(Si-Fe-Ti-Ne) and ISTJ(Si-Te-Fi-Ne). Ne(extrovert intuition) dominant are ENFP(Ne-Fi-Te-Si) and ENTP(Ne-Ti-Fe-Si). Ni(introvert intuition) dominant are INFJ(Ni-Fe-Ti-Se) and INTJ(Ni-Te-Fi-Se). Fe dom, Te dom, Si dom and Ni dom have the J. Fi dom, Ti dom, Se dom and Ne dom have the P. You just have to inform yourself about all those cognitive functions and try to guess what is your MBTI

I disagree, ENFJ’s are highly logical, because of the judging function. If an issue is in conflict the ENFJ will step away from opinion and go straight for the data… what are the actual measurable facts here? Whereas the ENFP will continue on with opinions, ideals, and base their opinion on perception, creating a pattern from past experience and anecdotal statements to formulate their perception of “fact”, and they won’t budge on it or accept any logical data placed in front of them. They’ll go at the whole way down the rabbit burrow. And that gets even worse if they can connect to others through these opinions. Whereas the ENFJ sees the bigger picture, they prefer to focus on what is true, so that real change can be created. Even if that makes them the outsider
