Seriously though... How am I meant to feel about this? Wanted him to win; wanted him to lose. Humiliating contestants with Random felt weird, but it was also extremely impressive-plus, I have enormous amounts of respect for Flash. ... Who was meant to be the Underdog here, even? I really feel conflicted in not seeing Flash get to the finals with Random; partially because I wanted to see the greatest SC player ‘do the impossible’, but also partially because of Flash’s personality, himself, in that his games are often one-sided in incredibly-creative/insightful ways (whether it’s a win or a loss - that is). ... In the end: I couldn’t decide whether to cheer for Soma, or Flash. I don’t like seeing him ‘bully’ his opponents, but I also feel a degree of injustice in his losses. Regardless though: the best of wishes to Soma for this win! Gogo Soma! Bravo on conquering the Emperor of SC! :3

Well said bro, feel the same way and i'm a huge Flash Fan. Guy is legitimately the best video game player of all time. The level of dominance shown this season, even in his off race and the degree to which he understands THE Hardest 1v1 ever.. astounding. Super happy he made it to Ro4 so he has a seed into next season. Watching one of the greatest minds of the game show his mastery is a thing of beauty. Flash is Truly a Master of SC, and now that he's essentially said, 'Beating all of you with Terran isn't enough of a challenge, i'll beat you with your own race too" he has really taken the skill cap off of himself and is showing an ability to move the meta of the OTHER races forward as well. Incredible, i'll be an SC fan until the last game is cast by Tastosis.

I'm eons away from Flash's class, but I really can't comprehend why he didn't block his ramp with a Forge on Ringing Bloom. That, and him forgetting to cancel the nexus, was such a crushing blow. In any case, I think Flash played exceptionally well with all three races, and I can't wait for the 3rd place match and next season because he'll be unstoppable. I hope some other people decide to go random, too. It absolutely changes the whole tournament.

Random is very much a double edged sword but is ultimately more advantageous for Flash Imho. In a sense both players have to prepare thrice the amount of builds, 3 for each map as neither player knows what matchup each map is going to be, so that's not just on Flash to prepare extra builds. The main issue with going random is obviously proficiency with all 3 races. However it somewhat evens out with the main advantage going random gives you, which is heavily restriction your opponent's build and strategy as they have to take all 3 races into account so they must use generic all purpose builds rather than superior specialized ones. That's also the reason Zerg suffers the least from facing against random, as they have the most build flexibility of all 3 races so by the time the Zerg knows what matchup it is he hasn't fully committed to a build just yet whereas Terran and Protoss already partially committed and if they need to transition it'll be much harder.

Pretty much my thoughts well. And since Flash is so strong with terran already, when he pulls that it's just a straight advantage for him. Finally ZvZ is quite volatile so he can squeak by sometimes using build orders as we saw. (Though he almost HAS to win by that, as his ling/drone micro is not quite on the level yet.) The real weakness IMO is PvZ and possibly PvP. (I'm betting Snow and similar players won't make the same mistakes twice.) Granted, the PvZ game would have looked very different if he hadn't screwed up twice early game, but with zergs destroying even top protoss like Snow with ease, it would be a tough macro game for him I think. Either way, it's exciting and I hope he continues with this. Everyone knows he could easily snatch more gold medals going terran, so there's no dishonor in losing while conducting a grand experiment like this. Spruces things up a lot.

no. not really. not even close. going random at that level is like playing with hard handicap unless all you do is cheese. theres a reason pros stick to one single race and practise like 16hours a day with it to be competetive. now divide that practise time by 3 races. its like in any other high comp mechanical games. no matter the talent if u cant put enough time into your training you will simply lose.

Game 2: not building two sunks immediately when the overlord spotted the lings. Game 5: not dumping another pylon to wall-off a high ground main with a free natural when he spotted the lings. Two zealots between the pylons and the gate would have held off the attack. Two unforgivable mistakes, which had cost flash the match. :/

@@dirkauditore8413 True - not saying that it's an easy game :) But after Flash handled the other opponents in the earlier matches, I was a bit disappointed. Also, almost all protosses wall off the entrance on that map, especially against zerg players.

It actually would have given him the edge against anything slower than a 9 pool. Since it's a large map, he probably didn't expect Soma to go 9 pool. He took the risk; it didn't work.

Flash is god as terran, but he is beta tier as zerg. He knows he cant win straight macro zvz, so he either needs aggresive cheese or make a greedy advantage. He was unlucky that soma blind countered.

Did rapid and no regret cast ASL 9 or something i forget? Or was it KSL 4 ? Apparently there is some kindof cyber creeper allegation against him. Tasteless and Artosis are both actually really good at the game and have phenomenal synergy it's always a bit dissapointing when there's an amazing game but they didn't cast it. I think everyone's issue with rapid is even though he got better at casting it's doubtful he ever really got any good at the game so he was always going to be an outsider from a strategy perspective even if he did have the game facts down other than from an observer perspective. Which admittedly watching pro games does help you understand better but not 100% if you don't know how to apply it

Flash should just off race it, then he can random it. He goes random and he's still hoping for Terran. If that's the case, play Terran. His random off race is not S ranked so I don't see why he think he can leave things to chance. In any mirror match, his chances are slim.

@@XtremeGoku This is how I feel about Flash's transition to Random. It's like a drug dealer, selling drugs to get in the hood and not out. It's like a kid from the nice part of Bedstuy that claims to be from Bedstuy but cries himself to sleep or a rich kid with no exposure to any sort of challenge wanting to be aggressive. As the 'Goat' that many claim him to be, and as a conservative player that he is, it's not consistent with his character.

@@hincuant417 I get your point but lets be real he made it to the semi-finals and with some refining he can clean up some of his mistakes he made with protoss and zerg. He wants to make history and cement his legacy by playing as random not just off-race.

holly shit, first 2 games werent really impressive at all, and i thought soma had the 3rd game after he had 3 bases set up with mass anti drop defense etc. but damn that was a good game. gg
