It's not all road. The trip from North to South includes nautical highways. Serviced by ROROs or roll-on roll-off boats that can accommodate cars and other land vehicles.

Actually it is Min-Ye-O Te-Ve, because that's how you read "Minyeo", and the letter T in Spanish (and even in Chavacano) is "Te" while the letter V is "Ve" (or sometimes "Uve" in other places). Also the pronunciation of the "Ye" is like "Je" (in English pronunciation) or in between the sounds of letter "y" and letter "j" in English. ✌😁

Sol and Luna muy guapitas. Maraming Salamat (thank you very much) for loving our Philippines. I was in teen when Mariasela Alvarez Lebron won Miss World in 1982. Fellow Filipino Sarah Jane Areza, was then Asia's Queen of Beauty to Mariasela's Queen of Caribbean. Sarah was next to Mariasela when she was declared Miss World, and Sarah was more than happy then. When Amelia Vega competed and won Miss Universe in 2003 I rooted for her. I learned about your country in our world history in elementary. I am not a weather expert, climatologist, or a meteorologist, but here is what I knew little about the seasons of the Philippines: The Philippine has two seasons: Wet or Rainy and Dry. Rainy aka Wet Season season is generally from June to November, but typhoons or tropical cyclones can come any time of the year though. This is the season when more rainfall and typhoons enter and hit the country. The Dry season is generally from November or December to May or Nine, and it is further subdivided into two sub-seasons: the Cool Dry Season, and the Hot Dry Season. The dry season of the Philippines is also when drought or extreme dryness because of heat and lack of rainfall can occur. The Cool Dry Season is from November or December to February or even up to March, when the temperature is a bit cool to cold and dry. Typhoons do also still enter and hit the Philippines during this sub-season. The Hot Dry Season is from February or March up to May or June, and can be warm to extremely hot and dry. This Hot Dry Season, which is a sub-season of the Dry season in the Philippines is also commonly and widely known, called, identified, or referred to as the "Philippines' Summer" in pop culture and general knowledge (but this is scientifically and technically wrong, because the Philippines is a tropical country, above the Equator and below the Tropic of Cancer, with tropical rainforest biome and tropical ecosystems, so it is impossible for the Philippines to have summer. Also because if the Philippines do have summer, then we should also have autumn or fall, winter, and spring, but we don't have those four 'cause we are not from a temperate or polar region).

They say they’re Asians cuz they grew up that Philippines was identified to be prt of Asia. Identified by PEOPLE. In reality, they could be with pacific islands not only through same culture, food, and weather, but also cuz historically many Filipinos also one of those populated the pacific islands. That and they are in the Pacific Ocean lol

Well its really a long highway but going from luzon to visayas the highway will be cut off and you need to cross the ocean via boat but the route they're going is called pan- Philippine highway the same goes with visayas to mindanao.. there's still no bridge that connects luzon visayas and mindanao... Islands are far across each other..
@keuniichiwa
@keuniichiwa 4 жыл бұрын
I think what the video meant by the highway stuff is that there's a fixed route that you must take to get to the other regions, there's not like a physical road/highway that connects the regions together, just a route. Although fun fact, there IS a bridge in visayas that connects two islands together (samar and leyte), its also considered to be the longest bridge in the country.

The Pan-Philippine Highway, also known as the Maharlika (“Nobility/freeman”) Highway is a 3,517 km (2,185 mi) network of roads, bridges, and ferry services that connect the islands of Luzon, Samar, Leyte, and Mindanao in the Philippines, serving as the country’s principal transport backbone. The northern terminus of the highway is in Laoag, Ilocos Norte, and the southern terminus is in Zamboanga City. The highway was proposed in 1965, and built under President Ferdinand Marcos’ He was a nation builder that's is why his son President BBM won the 2022 election over 31million votes.

Contrary to what the hosts said, the karaoke was invented and patented by a Filipino(without the monitor/tv). The Japanese tried to grab the credit but the Filipino inventor won in court battle but the Japanese name stuck, instead of the original "Sing-along System" name from the inventor, since most of the users in its initial stage were Asians and not English speaking people. In the Philippines, we call it "videoke" after a monitor was added where we could read the lyrics of the song.

Hi.. I'm new to this channel 😊. Btw, the Maria Clara Dress in the video is very different from what it was back then. When women's rights and feminism started to grow in the country, the evolution of Maria Clara dress also started and the changes became even more prominent when the Americans arrived. Edit: Btw, I think the proper name for the modern Maria Clara dress is Filipiniana. Maria Clara is the heroine character of the novel Noli mi Tángere by Dr. José Rizal. She is regarded as the ideal image of Filipino women and was described as conservative, demure, and self-effacing thus the befitting representation of the original and visually conservative traje de mestiza dress. Since the modern Filipiniana isn't the same way as it was before, I think the name Maria Clara is inapt anymore. It's only my opinion tho 😂

By law we now call east of the South China Sea as West Philippine Sea. Please know that we do not call all of it as West Philippine Sea, just a portion of it. Officially the phil govt's stand on this is that we claim only what's ours and the West Philippine Sea covers what's within the EEZ (exclusive economic zone) prescribed by UNCLOS (United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea) and the sea around the Kalayaan Islands (Spratly Islands), of course this includes sea around the Panatag Shoal (Scarborough Shoal)

Filipinos in the Philippines don't consider themselves Pacific Islanders but Southeast Asians. Only Filipinos and Filipino-American born in the United States call themselves Pacific Islanders.
@badlongon525
@badlongon525 4 жыл бұрын
Filipinos in the Philippines don't but Filipinos in the US, Mariana Islands, Guam and Saipan do. Let's not be stringent or fuzzy about this thing coz while it is true that the Philippines is part of Southeast Asia (which by the the way ASEAN was created/established fairly recently) but also it was the capital of the Spanish East Indies (Guam, Mariana Islands, Philippines) under the Spanish Regime for many many years. So you can't just brush it aside. Plus, the Philippines is located in the Western Pacific just like Taiwan and Japan and it's composed of many islands (archipelago) so it's fair to say that Filipinos are also Pacific Islanders.

Filipinos are both Asians and Pacific Islanders, because the history of human expansion in the early days. Philippines is the starting point of all the Polynesian and Pacific Islander just before they went to the other islands (Marianas, Palau, etc.) Plus if you go to the islands of Palau and some Pacific Islands, their language is close or has similarities to many of the languages of the Philippines.
@badlongon525
@badlongon525 4 жыл бұрын
@@ninjasiren that's exactly my point. Problem is, Filipinos here in the Philippines are not critical and well-versed in our history. They just take whatever their teachers say and don't care to research or investigate. "Southeast Asian" is fairly a newer term. The people in ASEAN just recently identified themselves as such or that may be the most popular term for ourselves but prior to the establishment of ASEAN and even in my younger days, Filipinos never identified themselves as such. Before, we may identify ourselves as Asians but not Southeast Asians coz the latter term is fairly recent. Now to the point of Pacific Islanders, it's a term coined by the Americans in the earlier part of the 20th century, specifically for their colonies and territories in the Western Pacific which they acquired from the Spanish Crown. So the bottomline is, I don't take offense with the term Southeast Asians because that is the term we use in relation to our location and our relationship with our neighbors in Southeast Asia neither do I take issue with the term Pacific Islanders coz historically and culturally, that is also a fact. In fact, younger Filipinos never realized that we are also considered as Hispanics. If someone doesn't know the meaning of Hispanics, just google it. Although that may be a less known and popular identity among us Filipinos but nobody can deny that fact too.

Pan-Philippine highway is just a fixed route u can take form north to south. There's no underwater tunnel. Only the bridge that connects Samar and Leyte. The tip of the Luzon Island is in Matnog, Sorsogon. You need to ride a ship/ ferry that can transport cars, buses, and other vehicles going to the Island of Samar. Samar Island is connected to Leyte Island by the longest bridge in the Philippines called San Juanico Bridge. (It's the longest as of now, but will soon be replaced by currently under construction 3rd bridge that connects Cebu and Mactan). Then from the tip of Southern Leyte, ride again another ship to Surigao del Norte in the Island of Mindanao. There has been proposals to build bridge connecting Southern Leyte to Surigao del Norte, Mindanao Island. But there are factors that affect the feasibility of the projects proposed.

Filipinos in the Philippines: "What the fck is a Pacific Islander?" Yeah yeah I know some Filipinos in the country know that term. But you'll get a shitload of blank stares when you mention it.

At one point Philippines was called P.I. or Philippine Island. That's where the Pacific Islander in the Pacific Ocean came from before its categorized as Asian.

There are some inaccuracies. Mindanao is not predominantly Protestants and Muslims. Mindanao is still predominantly Catholics. In the whole country, Protestants comprise 11% and Muslims around 6%. Most muslims are in Mindanao (20% of the population) and protestants are scattered all over the country. Also China calls it South China Sea but we call it Philippine West Sea. The bamboo dance is not just Tinkling. There is also Singkil which is a bamboo dance from the Muslim region. It is also shown in the clip, with fine, gold costumes, fans and an umbrella since the main dancer is supposed to be a princess with her lady in waiting holding the umbrella. There are two autonomous regions in the Philippines. Aside from the Muslim Autonomous Region in the south, there is Cordillera Autonomous Region in the North.
