To be honest I believe in Nuteruality in this kind of thing, even if we have the ability to kill doesn’t mean we have to, the power to fight is to protect, and to uphold justice, and only fight those who actually deserve it or force us to fight without another option, those being Flower and Asgore, for all we know the determination that was injected into the flower that was once asriel allowed him to kill everyone multiple times over, but that is a stupid idea. If he wanted to kill Asgore he should have done it himself instead of coming in at the last minute. In actuality, he is pathetic and weak
@jonatanluna10613 жыл бұрын
@@KaganeInugami He already said himself in the genocide route that he has already tried killing everyone himself. I think we can assume that includes the king too. He may be pathetic, but he isn't necessarily weak. He also isn't stupid, so i bet there's a reason he couldn't ever get this far before the player arrived. Flowey is pretty much supposed to be a player living in the game that's already exhausted every route the game had available to him. Interestingly, to forgive doesn't mean not to kill, and to not forgive doesn't mean not to spare. Here, judging how Flowey looks satisfied when you kill him, and frustrated when you spare him, i think forcing him to live is a nice punishment in a way, particularly when you know the truth about him and how much being "alive" is meaningless to him. Besides, by killing him you prove a point he makes in the beginning depending on your actions, "you pretend that you want to spare everyone, but the day you'll face a merciless killer, you will strike him down out of frustration". And isn't letting his last thoughts be that his point was proven having too much mercy on a jerk like him? Anyways i think Subaru's decision and her reasons were the most interesting ones, at least in my opinion: if she killed him, her efforts to kill no one, not because it's the right thing but because she wants to, would all have been wasted, Flowey is a jerk, but if he does it again she can still stop him again, but clearly she won't give him the satisfaction to let him influence her decision. Her pacifism is not out of kindness, mercy or morals but rather out of acknowledging her other options and decided that she wanted not to kill. I honestly think that is the meaning of being a red soul (determination): you make a decision, and you don't let others keep you from fulfilling it. It may just be one of the morals of Undertale, you can live your life the way you want, as long as it was your decision, as long as you accept the consequences of that decision, and as long as you accept that it won't always lead you somewhere good, nor somewhere bad. In that way, all of their decisions were motivated by their own beliefs, so they're all interesting. (still i like Subaru's better, perhaps because it's closer to my own belief x3)
@javierchamorro89883 жыл бұрын
You can feel the kindness behind Marine's, Pekora's and Luna's decision, the righteousness behind Flare's and Watame's and the desire for vengance behind Rushia's and Kanata's. They all made their judgement on Flowey. Subaru didn't. She made a judgement on herself. She won't forgive Flowey, but what happens to him is not for Subaru to decide. She's no judge. From different points of view, that can be seen as a lack of conviction (to do what must be done), the upholding of one's convictions (not being swayed by other's actions) or the foolish withholding of her inner desires. Either way, that's a very interesting personality.

@@javierchamorro8988 yeah, you're an interesting philosophy partner aren't you? Even with your point of you i honestly can't tell if her mentality is good or wrong. Anyways all of them had their reasoning and motives behind killing or sparing, hers is just more interesting to me because as you said it's not about judging Flowey, and she's i think the only one who went that way. I'd argue it can be a good thing, because after all who has the right to judge others? Her purpose was to stop him, but past that purpose she may not be the person suited to tell if he deserves to live or die, and if he deserves to die for he killed someone she would deserve to die the same if she killed him. If the alignment chart holds any meaning anymore she's the definition of true neutral on this decision. edit: i may as well be overinterpreting it and she just had zero conviction about how to go with morals in this playthrough so she just stuck with a straight goal instead, i dunno honestly but i still like her reasoning for it being the most unique x)

It may seem like a more satisfying option to kill Flowey here, since he’s given you no reason to show him any mercy. But the thing is, if you kill him, you’re only proving his point. So sparing him is much more of a win for you, really
@PK_Scratch3 жыл бұрын
Eh. But that's basically flowey just being happy with general platitudes? If you were to put it in a real life scenario. Imagine say an Arson that believes there's only two ways. To see the world burn or to be burned. And after they burn a house full of people and all the evidence that it was them, you have the choice to kick him into the fire or not and have said arson run away (and just generally hope that they don't do it again and that if they do, you'll be there somehow to stop him.) Honestly, I'd just kick the arson right there and then to prevent anymore tragedies from a person who definitely has no remorse and stop him and let him "win" his own argument that he most likely used to support his own actions. Plus lore wise in the game. Flowey will definitely redo his violent actions, I mean, that's literally part of the plot and what he has been doing.
@MrKaiju-sr8wu3 жыл бұрын
@@PK_Scratch ... you can’t really compare this kind of scenario to real life.
@PK_Scratch3 жыл бұрын
@@MrKaiju-sr8wu you can to an extent. But yeah, the game is really more of an emotional ride with a clear idealized portrayal of pacifism with the intent to provide meaningful character moments, so it's not intended to actually challenge your worldviews or teach pacifism in depth or whatnot, as the actual struggles and cost of pacifism isn't really challenged or touched on in details. It's really just more intended to be a fun game with an interesting gimmick and a twist on the general mindset when playing JRPGs.

I dont get how flare is lawful neutral when there was no reason behind her kill other than "ill just kill this one and no one else" At least watame justified it by saying she forgave everyone else while the crime flowey commited was too much even for her to forgive and her kill was for punishing murder. Idk about revenge since asgore wasnt related to watame or the character personally - and anyway revenge isnt only an evil thing even in DND

@@javierchamorro8988 If you were watching Kanata's run more, you'd equate her more to CN than NE. Killing isn't automatically Evil even in the context of Undertale. It's motivation.
