💬Plot summary:
Fan Xian grew up in a small town by the sea with his grandmother, following a sudden visit of a poison master, his peaceful life quickly morph into one filled with danger and hardship. Emm...actually in the ancient china (especially a feudal dynasty similar to the one in the drama), a) his father and mother would pick one for him when he was young as the "chief" "official" wife. It is always for political purposes. or b) there would be an organization regularly pick young girls for him from the whole country (normally his mother and he would decide whether the "picking" activity would be held or not), and he could decide the ones he likes. or c) the lieges would "send" him girls to flatter him. So the video shows the emperor has 4 wives, but actually he might have (or had) more with a high possibility... but these ones are the wives he likes most... Things may be changed due to dynasties' systems and emperors' personalities. Ooops this is sooooooooooo hard to explain in English. lol.

I finally understood why he would say the Red Mansion is written by Mr. cao....it's bc he had the mind of the future and he already read the book but now he's in the past...mr cao is a historical person but since this "dynasty" happened before he was born, they wouldn't who he is. Love the subtle politics. Going to the favored (and related) upper concubine first is generally not polite. You great them by ranking: Dowager, Queen, then related upper concubines. So She had to ask about the Queen, but if there's a health related excuse from a Eunuch, you just hope the eunuch is on your side (he's on the emperor's side, usually) and you really aren't offending the queen. I love the subtlety interspersed with all the comedy

Princess Royal is a superb actress!
