We really do have white, pink and dark/black sand (no filter). The bowing is common in Asia but Filipinos usual greet with a handshake or beso (hug and cheek to cheek but only if you are already familiar/friends). Probably bec of social distancing, service people will be bowing more than shake hands🥰😎👍🏼

I came from Eastern Visayas and when you girls said why is there water in both sides of the sand? It’s because that’s a long beautiful Sand Bar of the Kalanggaman Island in Leyte. It’s also accesible via Cebu so incase you girls wanna visit. And that’a right, Bicol is known for their Spicy food, Im sure you will love it there. I am also dying to visit Bicol soon.. I also wanna add how teary eyed I get when finally there are lots of Tourism Ads for the Mindanao Region. This is something new since they don’t usually promote going there before due to negative events and now here it is. I’ve only been to Mindanao once, only in Davao and because of this, the next time I go home to Philippines I’ll make it a priority to explore Mindanao more. I am excited for you to visit the Philippines. I hope this pandemic is over so that we can all travel again🥰🥰🥰

That long and large "mortar" thing, or what you call as "pilón/pilon", is a tool made from a tree trunk with a space in the middle, and is traditionally and natively used for pounding the rice grains to remove their husk or rice grain cover, and separate them from the rice grain itself, which is inside. We call it lusóng, alsóng, átung, babayán, bayúhan, húsong, lasóng, lésong, and lubáng in Filipino and in some other languages of the Philippines. It is also similar and a bigger and longer version of an almirés, ásung, almerés, almirez, dikdíkan, or mórtar aka mortéro, that we typically use in the kitchen to pound, ground up, or grind up something like some smaller ingredients, seeds, nuts, and spices for cooking.

Hehe. Yeah. 😆 It's because the letter Tt in Spanish is "te", and Vv in Spanish is "ve" or sometimes "uve". Their letters in their alphabet and the names for each letter is also similar or even the same to the names of letters and the letters themselves in Chavacano alphabet of the Chavacano language of the Philippines. When we will traditionally say the letters of the Chavacano alphabet, we would say, "a, be, ce, che, de, e, efe, ge, hache, i, jota, ka, ele, elle, eme, ene, eñe, o, pe, cu, ere, erre, ese, te, u, ve, dóble u, equis, ye, zeta", and these would be pronounced as / ah, beh, seh, cheh, deh, eh, e-feh, he, a-cheh, i, ho-tah, kah, e-leh, e-lyeh, e-me, e-ne, e-nye, o, peh, kuh, e-reh, er-reh, e-seh, teh, u, veh, do-bleh-u, eh-kis, yeh, se-tah/ze-tah /... For the modern Spanish alphabet, they don't have now the letters Ch ch, Ll ll, and Rr rr as separate letters in their alphabet, while the Chavacano alphabet still have those letters. ✌😊 Buenas noches desde Ciudad de Zamboanga !

That cow is actually a water buffalo; native buffalo species found in the Philippines. Bowing used to be the formal greeting of natives in the Philippines, but since the Philippines was colonized by other countries, it slowly diminished. Still, there are still practices that people bow to another, which is specially true for ones who serve others.

There's 2 kinds of greetings in the Philippines. We call it the "Beso" and the "Mano po". "Beso" is like a suttle kiss on the cheek usually done with ur friends and other family members. While "Mano po" is the way of asking respectfully an elderly for their hands to be placed in your forehead for u to be blessed by the elder while responding also "bless po". While the "hand on the chest" is a gesture of welcoming a person wholeheartedly usually done on office establishments, buildings, restaurants etc. Jejeje i hope it helps.❤

Yes it is the formal way of greeting . You have to bend forward with your right hand on you chest. It originated from the farmers back in the day where they greet people they meet on the street, they have to bow their head placing the hat on the chest.. the white sand in the middle of the sea is called Sand bar. You see a lot that in the Philippines islands.

yes, that formal gesture you have seen in Boracay is a Filipino gesture...It shows respecting a person. And that appetizer you've see in Western Visayas is a kilawin, a Filipino ceviche. Moreover, in Central Visayas yes that a local language it is Visayan language and that ice cream, your right is a halo- halo and yes, a coffee.😄😄😄

That is "Bating Filipino" - the new Filipino way of greeting. It is a simple act of gracefully laying the palm of the right hand over the chest with a simultaneous slight head nod as a customary Filipino gesture of goodwill, praise and respect as per the House Resolution No. 408. This is post pandemic. Because before we have the "beso-beso" wherein a slight cheek-to-cheek gesture is done by both greeting individuals. We have another form which is the touch of the elbows.
