I don't know how to explain it but even though people always look at Yibo's serious side, he is still a person who feels and cries. Looking at him this way is very difficult for me and it must be even more difficult for himself. Comparing the way Yibo was in 2016 to that of 2021, he has matured a lot and it shows. He went from not wanting to call his father to say ily to talk us about appreciating our family and spend time with them as long as possible.

@Winwin makes me Happy In the video Yibo calls his father to tell him "I love you" but decides not to tell him. When the staff offer to call his father again, he declines. He seemed a bit shy and awkward, because it's probably not common for him to do it.

@Winwin makes me Happy to build on on what @yuteko fushiguro explained, typical Asian families are not very expressive towards each other, especially between father and son (mother with children would usually be more expressive), so it's expected that it was probably the same between Yibo and his dad. Saying 'I love you' can feel really awkward when it's not usually done, and at that point Yibo probably hadn't felt comfortable doing it (and on camera as well) which was why he rejected to call his dad to express himself

He feels things so deeply, I am in awe of how much he’s in touch with his feelings. Whether he chooses to show his thoughts or not is entirely up to him. There is a time and place and only he gets to decide that. We’ve seen time and again how balanced his comments are for competitions or even non-comp events. He’s thoughtful, fair and encouraging. I love how he screams and fanboys over Bouboo and AC, cry with Colin, whoops with joy with Yang Kai, so in awe of Acky San..Wang Yibo’s range of emotions is thrilling and it gives me joy to see him express every single one of them freely💚💚.

It's really heartbreaking to know that yibo hides a lot of his pains and doesn't want to bother others but would rather cry silently, he has alwz talked about how much his grandparents mean to him, it's obvious he loves them very much and his grandfather died and none of us knew, if not for ddu,we would never have known. I hope those people judging and criticizing him also realize he's a human being and maybe get to know him better so you'll see how much of an amazing person he is💚💚💚💚. Life experiences has really matured him. He's always been a deep thinker, he just doesn't express it until he needs to and that's when it hits you how mature and logical his thinking is. I was very moved seeing his reaction on Street Dance of China last week. He is still grieving the loss of his grandfather. He must have been feeling it very deeply to have cried on camera like that. It reveals too much vulnerability about you when this happens in public. Grief over the loss of a family member is something intensely private, generally only shared with the most trusted family and friends, and even more so if you are a big star. I really hope Yibo has those safe harbors in his life, those people who are there for him and that he feels comfortable turning to for support and comfort.

Yibo has matured a lot in the late 2 years.. to the extend that I cant even recognize him sometimes (he was always mature and serious though, just that he is more now). Everytime i see Yibo cry i have to cry to. Its just that he rarely cries especially infront of the camera, so when he did i knew it must have been something serious and it must be very emotional. When Yibo cried, I cried. 💚 When you move away from home, it's not always easy to come back to visit. I made the decision when my Dad was getting ill more often, to return home. I sold everything and went home and I am one of the lucky ones that I got to have almost 2 years with my dad before he passed away. Time is short, Life is uncertain and you have to make the time to see your loved ones (even if it is a video call due to the pandemic), let them know you love them. It's too late, when it's too late...then all you have are regrets.😭😭😭😭 I miss hugs!!!

This portion of that episode of SDC4 was especially hard for me because I lost my grandfather in a tragic accident last November and though he was 97, he was healthy for his age. So anytime I watch something like this as we’re still grieving, it hits like a ton of bricks and I just wanted to reach out through the screen, hug Yibee, and Colin and cry along with them because I was legit balling watching that portion. Very draining. But it just goes to show that family matters and these kids are away from home and don’t see their family much especially in their grandparents and parents older years.

Actually Colin song is very popular in my country too and I get emotional everytime I hear it since both my parents passed away and no more family house to return to. However, I was a bit shocked when Yibo started to cry. Yibo who rarely shows his emotions and who always put on a brave face during hard times literally breakdown and crying makes me sad and worry. I really wish at the moment Yibo take some time off and go back home.

I couldn't relateable to grandfather thing in sdc4 episode 3 , because my grand parent died when my father was a teen or yonger, don't know how and never asked too because not make my father sad, I do have grandpa, but he was like half paralysed or something like this due to excessively drinking alcohol and smoking, I don't have that bond, plus I really hate him. When colin showed his emotions through his dance, I felt bit of sad but when I came to know they are talking about his grandfather I was I complete blank, as a when yibo cried again I felt sad seeing him cry. I don't know why even I write it. 😅

This made me think of Yibo in a different way. Maybe he seems cold or serious cause he is protecting himself cause he is a very sensitive person and has been hurted by people or his past experiences (like the death of a loved one.) The first time you experiment your grandpa or granma's passing, you start facing those thoughts and you become stronger indeed, but more mature too. I hope that Yibo can heal so he can show his vulnerable side more, he must have great values and moral and it be great if he can share it with us. Fighting Wang Yibo!!

I want to say so many things but it's all too painful for me and I feel the words cannot express feeling properly. So I will just say this: in 2016 Yibo didn't want to call his dad because it was too painful for him and not because he didn't care. He probably didn't want to get emotional in front of the camera. Sometimes if something is hurting too much we will try to avoid thinking about it. Just my feelings and thoughts about it.

The only thing that made me sad was that Yibo wants a son so that he can teach them his favorite sports/hobbies. Girls can learn those things too :// Yibo is usually so inclusive and I like that he doesn't baby women and expects just as much hard work out of them as men (from what I've seen of him as a captain on SDC) but that view point just made me sad.

I think the reason he said that is because of the father-son bond, he does not have the best father son bond with his father. So I am sure he just wants to have what he and his father missed. It's not just about the activities that he wants to share, it's the memories and bond that he wants to create, one which he most likely never got to have with his dad. I don't know how to explain it in psychological terms but it is very prevalent in today's age that most people strive to be better parents than their parents...
