Seems to me you’re being unfair to DJI to say you can’t close the case with the windscreen on it. Well, you can’t do that on the Hollyland either and the Rode doesn’t even have a recharging case. You don’t like the case, then do a direct charge of the transmitters thru the USB port.
@Engearment

I hear what you are saying. Hope it does not come across unfair. Just an observation. You are totally correct, you can just charge it via the port. Which is what I do 99% of the time. Take care!

The Lark M1 having no internal recording and no jack for external microphones put them into a whole different category I think. Also, connectivity is another differentiator: the Rode and the DJI can act like USB microphones, I enjoy using the RODE with my smartphone connected through USB-C: it offers stereo recording capability on a smartphone and this way the audio circuitry of the phone is bypassed, all is high quality digital audio.
@Engearment
@Engearment 2 жыл бұрын
Good call on the internal recording. I actually never use that function. But I can see how that can be a plus for a lot of people. You can't connect a Lav to the M1. Other than that I think it sounds almost as good as the GO. I have a M1 and a GO, I also think the GO has a better range when a lot of interference is near( like cell phones ). As long as you are within 25 feet or an open field it should not be problem. The low end need a little help in post for me, but I mean very little help. I got mine for $115 on Prime Day and plan to use them to do some interviews. I have sound meters and a headphone jack on the ZV-E10 so the fact that it does not have meters is not a problem. As you could hear it could have a problem with hair noise from beards and long hair so you might want to use the wind hat at all times. I was happy with the buy and even if I do get something better later, I will always carry the M1 as a backup.

Thanks for the great review & video! I have an odd sort of use for such a mic; I want to record sleep-talking. I suppose I could clip the mic to my shirt collar (I am a side-sleeper, so I don't think it would present a comfort problem). I could also use the 2 mics (stereo mode) and clip one to each side of my pillow. I'm not sure how strong the clips are - whether they would remain attached all night. I'm using a Galaxy A51 Android 12 phone. I would like to be able to record only when I talk, and there are several apps available for that purpose; however, I also play a nature soundtrack (rushing stream) while I sleep, so I don't know whether I can set the app to ignore the background noise and record only when I talk. I suppose I could try the noise cancelling feature on the mics, but I have my doubts about that working. I might also want to record audio continuously to my Windows 10 PC using Reaper DAW. I would of course need to edit the file in Reaper to avoid having to listen to 6 hours of noise with a few moments of talk. That is very easy to do in the DAW, so I'm not concerned about it. From your review, I believe this system will work. I may only need 1 mic, but I like the package that includes 2 mics and the charging case, plus the USB C adapter for my Android phone. One other thing: Which method would you use to record to Windows PC? The 3.5mm connected to the mic input on my PC, or the USB-C adapter? I assume that if I use the adapter, Windows will recognize the mic and allow me to route audio from it into Reaper (or any other app). I apologize for the long comment, but I have never used any of these mics before. Thanks Ethan Edit: I note in the Hollyland Mark 1 description on Amazon, it states that the 3.5mm to USB-C adapter is not included in the kit; in addition, it states that their adapter will not work for Samsung phones (I have the Galaxy A51), and to purchase the adapter from Samsung. Can you think of a reason another brand adapter would not work? I went to the Samsung store, and found the adapter, but it doesn't get good reviews, so I am hesitant to purchase it.

Rest ie best sound , internal recording system , battery and larve attachment etc are 2ndry option group. So lets consider u are very low on budget and requires a light microphone HollyLand is the winner starting at 150$ Boya XM6 S2 on 2nd 170-199$ Rode and DJI are not recommended. However if u can cope with size but need good quality but are still on a budget. Going for a Rode wireless 1 for 120-165$ is a great option. Followed By Boya XM6 .

I used the Hollyland and you can hear on here, kzbin.info/www/bejne/lZSkZayPaZeWrJo the sound is blown out. Ruined my audio for this video. Make sure you understand the volume settings and test it before using it. Your video is great to hear the difference between the more expensive options.

For live streaming using Switcher Studio, what system is there to monitor what the other person is saying, (with no lag) if they are not next to you? For example, commenting on a sports game and the other person walks away a bit more than being in earshot. So we are not on camera, so we can have any type of headphones on and any type of microphone? I note the DJI have an headphone option

What's the average range that you use your mike set-up? What is the maximum effective range on the DJI, Rode GO II & Hollyland?

I use the move within several feet - 50 ft of the receiver. The longest I have used them is during a seminar at our gym. With the presenter walking the entirety of 5000sq space. Worked well. Only time I had a drop out was when using 4 sets at once, with lots of camera and computer gear, With a hundred people in the space. More interference than distance. Hope that helps!

Rode mic is too big, but saw the DJI and then the Hollyland and really like the sleeker look. Hollyland did sound a little tinny, but I can't pay over $300 for the DJIs.

Yep. Hollyland is very sleek. Sound is not as good in some cases as the DJI or Rode though. Good enough for most uses.

Which of these 3 recommendations for a movie, to take sound from the acotres?

Any of these would work well. If you are looking for discrete, the Rode and DJI can accept a lav mic. If you want simple, the M1 is small and sounds good.

Does the Hollyland have onboard recording rather than having to transmit to the transmitter? If I'm not mistaken the DJI mic can record straight to the mic and not needed to transmit and I was hoping the same for the Hollyland! Thanks!
@Engearment
@Engearment 2 жыл бұрын
Hello!! You are correct on the internal re riding - fox both DJI and Rode. Which a lot of people find helpful. I personally do not use that feature though. As far as I know, there is no o herbal recording on the Hollyland.

@@Engearment Appreciate the reply! I have a follow up question! Can you transmit and record with the Hollyland mics without the transmitter being plugged into a recording device (i.e. a camera, DJi controller). For example, if I am using multiple cameras but want to have the audio recorded separately from all cameras, can I use the two mics and transmit the audio to the receiver without it being plugged into any of the cameras and record the audio? Then obviously sync the audio up after the fact. Or does the transmitter piece need to be plugged into one of the cameras or some device in order to record and save the audio? Thanks!

@@iamconnorwoods great question! I believe the receiver needs to be plugged into some sort of recording device. (Camera, recorder, etc.)
@iamconnorwoods
@iamconnorwoods 2 жыл бұрын
@@Engearment I appreciate it! Yeah as I was asking the question I thought to myself, hmm even if it needs to be plugged into something I can just get a stand alone audio recorder to plug it in to in order to record my audio on its own! I will say I love the fact the DJi mics have local recording, might just spend the extra cash on them just for that convenience. The quality in order between them and the Hollyland does not entice me to spend twice the amount, it's not that noticeable IMO. However that functionality will just be less headache and less gear I would need for what I want to do! Thanks again for answering my questions!

@@iamconnorwoods one other thing to consider. You can figure out which of your cameras has the quietest preamp and put the receiver into it. It’s pretty easy to extract the audio track in most editing software.
