Engine and transmission removal, Fiat 500 Classic - Part 1

Took a vacation from the '62 bug project. Will be working on the little Fiat this winter. The car is in pretty good shape aesthetically, but needs some work on the drivetrain and suspension.

Salut. Incet incet ma pregatesc sa montez si eu motorul pe masina. Voiam sa te intreb daca crezi ca e accesibil sa doar doar motorul jos, fara cutie? Si pun direct motorul nou? Mi se pare ca as avea mai putin de lucru. Plus ca o sa fac totul de pe capre. Nu am elevator din pacate. Mersi si felicitari pentru ceea ce faci.

Da, e usor sa il pui si cu cutia in masina, nu trebuie data jos. Doar traversa cu bara spate sa fie data jos. Asa fac si eu acum. Mai am cateva zile de lucru la motor si e gata. Am de editat deja cateva clipuri.

how much time did it take you to do this part. my brother wil be gone for 3 days, and his engine is smoked. i have absolutely no experience in engine swaps. the only thing i know about cars is the service (still learning) ? thank you

It took a day for the whole teardown (part 1 and 2 of this series). In the 500 an engine swap is a 3-4 hour job if doing it for the first time. It is simple enough, but you should still get a manual for this car and read through it. There are some important adjustments that need to be done when the new engine goes in. Also, if transmission is ok, just take out the engine, do not remove the transmission. It-s a pain to correctly align it with the wheels. Good luck with your project!
