@mgomez5606 I don't remember the exact price, but it was in the 30s. I got it from the dealership, which is a little bit more. You can check out Amazon or other online options.

High heat is good but you don't need the fan on high. It will circulate better and open the thermostat quicker if the fan is on low or even off. The heater core works like a small radiator. If you keep the heater fan off then the engine will get to operating temperature sooner.

I used to flush my Toyota's coolant with the hose and the engine running, but then I could no longer get the Toyota red coolant concentrated. If I used the 50/50 version, I'd have too much water left in the cooling system when done. I now do it as you do and get most of it changed but not 100% as before. Wash spilled coolant with a hose as it can kill animals that like it's sweet taste. Recycle the used coolant responsibly.

Good advice if you use full strength coolant. Toyota stopped sellling that. I actually used Prestone version in full strength but I tend to stick to manufacturers version ax I know there will be no compatibility issues. Worth the extra cost to me.

Hello! How many quarts did you use to refill it completely? Do I need to max all fans, thermostat? How would I know if there are no more air trapped inside? Thank you!
@averagemaintenance38753 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching. I used around 5 quarts of coolant. Yes, max the heat on defroster to reach operating temperature. While you running your engine air will escape and you will see bubbles when that happens. Add coolant to the top of radiator each time. I did add coolant 4-5 times. Once you reach operating temperature all air should escape. If you want to make sure all air is out, keep your engine running longer. I did 20 minutes you can run it for at least 30 minutes, but best thing is look into your dashboard to see are you at daily operating level. Do not forget to check the level after driving it for 20-30 miles or 20-30minutes of idling. I did this procedure at 77436 miles and now my wife has 78677. There was no any problems. Good luck.

I have a Toyota Camry 09 LE and Engine Coolant Filler Neck is leaking coolant as soon as I turn on my car. I tried looking online to order that specific piece but I can’t find it anywhere. Sorry this question has nothing to do with the video but I’m not sure what my next steps would be

I understand. There's no need to be sorry. I appreciate that you watched my video and wanted to do a job yourself. As for part finding, I have question, are you talking about reservoir filler neck or radiator? If you need a reservoir, try search under "coolant reservoir toyota camry LE 2009". @averagemaintenance38753 жыл бұрын
To avoid bigger problem, be patient with it, to not brake it. It is plastic and too much of force could be bad. Try do it when engine coolant is cold and spray it with WD40, or some other penetrator. Give some time to penetrator to loosen up. Good luck.

What if under the car starts leaking? I followed all steps in the right order.
@averagemaintenance38752 жыл бұрын
Make sure that is not spill of coolant. Dry all around best you can and try to locate exact leak spot. It could be drain plug on bottom of radiator. Needs to be tight. Also check that you did not accidentally puncture hose or radiator. Good luck.

Mechanics and Dealers, if you can trust them, can flush the complete transmission. I wanted to post my way for people to see how one can refresh fluid by doing my procedure 2-4 times based on the condition of fluid and not only to save some money but also to have pease of mind.
@frankmontez68537 ай бұрын
@@averagemaintenance3875 well I did it. Yes a complete flush could replace all the coolant but I suppose it’s good enough for now. Thing is I bought 2 gallons of the pink stuff the Toyota coolant. They’ll still be good for a long while?
@averagemaintenance38757 ай бұрын
@frankmontez6853 I was thinking about transmission when I replied, but you commented on coolant. Sorry. It is also good refreshment the way I did it. Flushing is hard in a small garage, but at least you know what you have done. And if you do it a couple of times, than it should be good for a long time.

Can I use just water as a coolant as well?
@averagemaintenance38752 жыл бұрын
I would not. With coolant there is no sediments build up which eventually causes leaks and in winter coolant prevents freezing. A lot of people suggest distilled water vs. tap water when mixing concentrated coolant to prolong the engine life.

The way shown in this video half of the old coolant was left unchanged. In the 4 cylinder Camry there is 1 drain bolt in the engine block, and in the 6 cylinder Camrys there are 2 drain bolts. After draining old coolant a good practice is to do the 1st re-fill with just a distilled water and drive a car for a day or two and drain all that water again before final filling with a coolant. Also cheaper is to buy a concentrated Toyota coolant. In Canada it costs $3 more for a gallon compared to 50/50 pre-mix.
@shapho40562 жыл бұрын
