Great job Alan, I learn so many things watching you work! "Won't break down without a good reason" - well, I must be the most jinxed Mondeo owner, my 210 ps diesel just shaved the timing belt at ~ 65000 miles. It cost me ~2200 pounds to have it repaired (62500 miles warranty expired just few weeks ago), and Ford only agreed to pay 220 pounds to "help" me. They changed both camshafts, timing chain, timing tensioner, fuel pump, well, timing belt kit, everything they saw connected there, but they didn't find the real reason for it. I guess I swore too much, because the belt snapped again after just 600 miles. Ok, what?!?! Now they did it on their warranty. After less than 100 miles, my car suddenly stopped while climbing a not so step slope, with some fuel pressure error. It refused to start again, I was just talking with a trailer owner, when I just tried one more time, and miracle, I was able to drive my car at the nearest Ford garage for a diagnose, while driving there the car worked like new just because. They changed the fuel filter, and recommended fuel injectors to be changed! Really?!? They weren't even able to tell me what injector was the faulty one, because they don't have a testing stand lol. But hey, why not recommend to change everything? Ok, now I drive my 70k miles Mondeo waiting for some shit to happen again, without a reason, just because my car sucks.
@andreiapreotesei58133 жыл бұрын
Wow, this is awkward, sorry to read such a story :/. Never keep one of these when the warranty expires, it appears that lately Ford simply uses cheapest and unreliable suppliers for their parts...

Omg, I just bought an mk5 2.0 tdci 170hp mondeo and I just read on the german forums where a few persons were complaining about that, especially one person whos cars cambelt snapped (i forgot the mileage) and he had to have his whole engine replaced and guess what? The next cambelt snapped at 2500kms (around 1600miles) again, he had to change the engine again (this time under warranty) and the third time it snapped again without engine change and now he dont know what to do. And other similar stories where the cambelt snapps, now one more person that I see on youtube complaining.... now I am afraid lol. But I am buying a used one with about 120k miles on it...
@TheDoRelian Жыл бұрын
@@AshleySamLeslie Sorry to hear that (you bought a MkV Mondeo sadlol). The story continued, and not in a good way. My injectors were clogged with metal shavings from faulty injection pump. Changed all that, and thoroughly cleaned all fuel lines, gas tank, low pressure pump, injection rail. Although didn't make much sense after spending a ton of money, I sold the car right after, I hated Ford too much. For me Ford doesn't exist anymore, and I warned all my friends about these bandits.
@AshleySamLeslie Жыл бұрын
@@TheDoRelian How much mileage did your car have? What is the probability a car that already drove 120k miles without issues to start having those issues that you guys have? Is it more like pop and flop that some cars have problems while others work flawlessly? I had a mondeo mk2 before and drove from 80k to 160k miles before I sold it and I literally never had to repair or replace anything special besides the fuel filter. (Not counting regular things like oil/air/engine air filter etc) I am sorry for you. I fell in love with mondeo mk5, its so beautiful...

I didn't change keys for the ignition not to recognise key, i disconected the battery terminals for 5 minutes, then 1 hour then 5 hours then reconnect inorder to reset.... nothing helped. Pulled out the immobilizer fuse under the passenger side below the glove box..... nothing. Before i push it off a cliff, have you came across this problem and a fix? i'm going to plug in a Forscan using my OBD2 cable and fiddle with it and see if i can reset it somehow. But knowing my luck, i wont figure it out. Cheers from Australia.

normaly it would be a key issue but you say there are no dash lights at all, is that correct....you may need an auto electrician to look at it but i would first check the fuse boxes for any corroded wires and the man battery cables as they have a built in fuse on the cable by the battery terminal but you will need a multi meter and obviously make sure there is plenty of charge in the battery, can really be much more help n this, good luck

@@marinusapeldoorn6631 I know the engine....my dad had a 2.0 petrol, was never adjusted in the 200k that was on it when he sold it...just regular oil changes, run on 5w/30 fully synthetic which was changed every 10k miles, and run on decent fuel. Its an over head cam engine which have hydraulic lifters.

Hello, can you please explain why the mistake "code P0014 Adjustment of camshafts B: excessive early adjustment (cylinder row 1) " appears even though I changed the sensor. I am German so it might be that the translation of the mistake isn´t correctly.

Alan got a 15 plate mk 5 (taxi) when cold starts and runs great when hot starts but runs like crap (low oil pressure no acceleration) leave it ten mins and runs great again until you turn it off any ideas

you need to read the ecu codes to point in the right direction what could be faulty

Comes up with crank sensor changed that and reluctor ring cam sensor changed and engine loom timing checked new fuel pump I'm thinking ecu took a dump as won't start at all now

Great video Alan. Shocking that that shaft could just sheer off like that....could it be that the pump's been removed before and but back out of time and balance causing it to snap ?
@alan4x3 жыл бұрын
no its never been removed, just a fault in the casting material

sounds like lack of fuel..maybe start with a new fuel filter but fill it up with fuel before you fit it
