What happened to the engine (46pc owner)

As best we can tell (in talking with other owners) is after a long run if you "hard throttle" down, sometimes this happens. Not sure if it's a safety thing or not? I likely hard throttled to turn in the harbour, then back to neutral, and it killed that engine? The weird thing is the no restart. It just wouldn't. Finally went to lower helm, powered down from there completely (everything), then powered up from there, then restarted (I think, I was hitting a lot of buttons, lol). We tested it, trying to replicate it ... 8-months later, and it's never happened again???
