Once again, ATC did a great job. I also like the pilot repeating 2466 emergency when changing frequencies to make sure everyone understood.

CFM is the engine manufacturer that supplies the CFM Leap for the 737 MAX. Just a reminder.

Great job and kudos to the pilots. Can somebody answer my question? Why do American pilots not declare a MAYDAYx3 after having any kind of fire? Keeping calm is ok but the initial call with fire on the left engine should not be like a regular tower-to-departure call. Is it correct in terms of FAA regulations to call the ATC with “callsign + emergency” phrase? This is unacceptable here in EASA countries but maybe I’m missing something here..

well, Tower needs to know what's going on before rolling ARFF + OPS prior to 🛬 and/or whether OPS must be given orders to close the affected RWY and/or intersections and/or close the Airport (as well) until cleanup + sweep + inspections are complete

It's old habits. Training in the US now says to say mayday x3
