Apparently you can over fill the oil in these bmws. There is a particular sequence. Have to run the motor so that the oil fills up the reservoir. If you dont run the motor for a few minutes the oil could all be on the sump and the dipstick shows empty and that's when you can over fill it. Something I came across. I measured out my oil to make sure I did not over fill.

What size spanner for the sump oil drain plug? You said 24 mm. My 22 mm fits the plug?

Maybe my plug is larger. It’s what I used. Don’t have the bike to double check sold it.

Comes in different weights. Get the weight oil your motorcycle calls for.

I am finding that this is the worst motorcycle on the market. The engineering is not consistent from motorcycle to motorcycle. The timing chain tensioner has BROKEN???? And I now have to pull the head off to inspect the damage.

I don’t know. It was a fun ride for the time I had it. Long term I can’t comment but all I ever hear is good stuff about them. Good luck with the repairs.
