That collapsed and close to disentegrating paper oil filter is why you really should be using and recommending a Mann HU 718/5x fleece oil filter or a Fram Ultra XG8481 oil filter instead of the crappy paper oil filter. They cost all of a few bucks extra. They are reinforced with nylon cord in the case of the Mann, or a metal screen in the case of the Fram Ultra. Might want to also consider recommending a thicker Euro weight 5w30 (difficult to find in the US) or a thicker Euro 0w30, 5w40, or 0w40 (much easier to find) instead of that super thin Dexos1 approved 5w30, especially if you live in the south and plan to push the oil through the summer! The 112 is pretty forgiving about oil as it's fairly understressed, but dexos is a fuel economy oriented "~5w25.1" oil, and not the "~2.5w35" Euro weighted oil the engine was designed for. The dexos1 oil is not going to be sufficient at protecting the engine under heavy load in high heat.

Awesome video. To go the full drain intervals you should really use a 229.5 spec oil though like mobil 1 0w-40. Again though very pro video.

This may help. Search "W163 Mercedes Benz ML-Class center console removal" I am specifically talking about the 20 minute one. It might be a bad motor, loose cable, burnt fuse, etc. (just a guess)

My ml320 2002 oil filter assembly only has one o ring, the one close to the top of the housing, no other o rings can be found in the filter assembly that holds the oil filter.

Great video. i have a small problem my 2003 ml320- blows cold air when i set that fan speed to a higher position if the fan speed is on the lowest setting it will blow hot air, i have changed the thermostat also the fan clutch and the blower also Blower Regulator for Climate Control Blower, do you have any clue what be going wrong? thanks

Charles Yepez Sounds like a heater core to me. I'm just a back yard mechanic though. I changed the heater core in my Dodge Ram 2500...if it ever goes in the 2000 ml320, i'll drive the sumbitch off a friggin cliff.....pulling the whole dash to get to it....it was not fun, it'd be way less fun on a mercedes.

what is the MB ML320 manual recommended 8L oil or 7.5L? some people on youtube video they are using 10w30 some using 5w30, which one is recommended 5w30 or 10w30 engine oil synthetic?

upto 8.5L and oil thickness will depend on the engine mileage, 10W40 is good if you have done heaps of mileage.

Nice and clear video, but you're wrong on a few things. First, you should only use FLEECE type oil filter for 10,000 mile oil change interval. (the one you removed and installed look like paper type, not good). 2) Use nothing but Mobil 1, 0W-40(in US) not ANY Mobil synthetic oil for longevity. That's what the MB recommends and uses at dealers. 3) Use copper washer not just any washer 4) 8.5qt is the correct capacity for these M112 engines. The used engine oil you just drained looks way too dirty.
