To anyone who is curious. I used the extraction pump for the first time on my petrol ML350. To satisfy my curiosity I also removed the drain plug after I used the extraction pump. NOT A SINGLE DROP of oil came out of the drain plug. An absolutely winner for me.

Hi Lee, thanks for checking and providing this feedback. I have not personally done this myself, however having serviced my vehicle myself since I purchased it I am not surprised at all as I know the the extraction pump sucks out more oil than I used to drain from the drain plug! Cheers Drew

How to use this pump if in my 4.0 engine is 12.5l of oil😅?
@DrewFixIt3 ай бұрын
I would personally pump out 8L, empty the pump tank and then pump out the remaining 6.5L! Cheers Drew

This is a great video. Thanks Drew! My ML500 doesn't have a dip stick, but it does have a "cap" for the place where a dipstick usually goes. So I guess this would be the same treatment to change the oil.
@DrewFixIt2 жыл бұрын
Hi Harsimran, I do not have a ML500 myself, however I think that you are correct in that some of them did not come with dipsticks. So you have to drain the oil and refill with the correct amount and then check the level via the multifunction display. I hope this helps? I personally would go and buy a dipstick from a different model year that had the same engine as yours! Cheers Drew

@@DrewFixIt Cool, thank for that info. That helps me a lot. I guess I would use the Triple "R" function to check on the oil levels. I wouldn't have thought about adding a dipstick into the car's engine. I thought maybe they were designed different. My brother has a 2012 ML350. I'll check his out and see if it has an oil stick and if it'll fit in mine. Mine is a 2006 ML500. Both W164 of course. :) I like the oil stick and if this works out, I'll go and buy one off a car junk-yard.

@@harsimran1 Hi Harismran, I think you will find that your ML500 has a V8 but your brothers ML350 probably has a V6 and if so I think the dipsticks may be different. Best to go to a junkyard and find a dipstick from the same engine as yours! Cheers Drew

@@harsimran1And?? Was it different in length? I also have the same ML500. And I would like to get a stick in the engine as well. But which one?

I see you have a right hand drive car. Does it affect the location of the PCV valve of this car? Mine is left hand drive model.
@DrewFixIt2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mate, not at all. Your PCV valve will be on the same side of the engine as mine! Cheers Drew

Hey awesome helpful videos. I have just purchased I think the identical car - ML300 2011 in palladium silver in New Zealand. Can I ask why you don’t use a diesel specific oil with this engine? I use Penrite or Nulon in all my vehicles - great oils - and I wonder if the Nulon Longlife Diesel would be better with the additional cleaning agents in it?
@DrewFixIt2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mate, I always use the Penrite Oil that I used in the video and it meets the MB 229.51 specification. This is important as the oil need to be a low SPash oil else your DPF will get blocked! Note - for a complete list of tools and consumables check out the description attached to the video. Cheers Drew

I've never seen oil capacity for 3.0 Liter Diesel W164 as less than 9.0 liters. I don't know what you've reffer to. Maybe without filter soaking, but still.

It may be me but I never bought into these pumps. I can’t see the pumps removing any sludgy stuff that may be laying in the pan that the full force of oil flowing from the drain plug does.
@DrewFixIt11 ай бұрын
Hi Mate, perhaps it’s just me but I only use quality oil and do frequent oil changes, so I never expect any sludge! Cheers Drew

@@DrewFixIt Understood but there may be metal bits of some sort that could tell a story. Cheers! Just changed the oil in my new to me ml550. Went like a champ and even could use the filters from my ml500! Continuing with my front to back fun!
