0w-20 Synthetic oil, & Items I use for my (2013-2017) Honda Accord on my affiliate Amazon Storefront:
www.amazon.com/shop/striker50...
This also works for the Honda CR-V, THE Acura TLX 2.4L
This Accord engine is known to burn oil, but I have recently replaced the valve cover gasket so MAYBE that can make a difference, I will be updating!
Engine Oil (in-store is cheaper):

Hey Striker,Love your vids! Got a 2014 Honda Accord Sports like yours. Recently had VTC Actuator, Timing Chain, and valve cover gasket replaced at the dealership, but now facing valve cover gasket leak and low engine oil after just 2500 miles. Warranty's up. Any advice?Thanks!

Thanks! I would go complain. You probably spent over $2,000. That is an expensive service. Complain, get a corporate number, and escalate if need be. Valve cover gaskets should not be leaking that soon

If the oil reading on my dipstick is exactly at the top mark, would that cause an oil leak due to it being overfilled? First time doing my own oil change, and I noticed the slow leak from maybe one of four things: 1) too much oil if dipstick reading is exactly at the top mark 2) overtightened the new oil filter 3) loosened the oil filter a bit because of I thought I overtightened it, so maybe now it’s not tight enough 😂 4) I didn’t get a good angle to see if I cleaned up all the old oil after first removing the original oil filter
@Striker50_
@Striker50_ 4 ай бұрын
The best way to get a reading is run the car for 3 minutes, turn it off for 3 minutes, pull the dipstick out, clean the dipstick, insert, and get an accurate reading. If it's right on the top mark it's fine. Issues usually arise when it's over filled part the top line.

A loose drain bolt, filter, or even some run off can be possible. Sometimes when you change oil, when you remove the filter and we're draining the oil, some of the oil could have been on the plastics under the car, and they slowly drip which makes it look like it's leaking oil
@absalomstar7085
@absalomstar7085 4 ай бұрын
@@Striker50_ Thank you for the responses. It’s for my Honda Pilot. The drain bolt should be tight enough (as close as I could get to 30 lb-ft). So it might be the runoff, but I put a drain pan underneath the car last night to see what it could be. I don’t have a driveway/garage, and the closest self-service shop is about 45 min away (which is where I did my own oil change). I didn’t notice any leaks before leaving the shop, but after driving 45 min back to my apartment, that’s when I saw some slow drips underneath. Was thinking of taking it to my nearest Valvoline to have them check the oil filter and to clean up any of the old residual oil.
@absalomstar7085
@absalomstar7085 4 ай бұрын
@@Striker50_ No leaks as nothing was collected in my drain pan overnight. It was the runoff. Took it to a Valvoline and they just wiped off any of the remaining residual oil (if any). I asked them to check the oil filter, as well. They also confirmed no leaks. So I guess I did an alright job (aside from the cleanup 😂) thanks to your video! Thank you, sir!

took it to walmart and they did it, decided to do it myself after 2-3 months and can’t take the bolt out, as it’s tight as a mf, i’ve used everything i possibly can and all it’s doing is stripping the bolt

You should always use a Honda filter as after market filters are no were near as good. They have a lot less filter paper in them. Also if an after market filter fails good luck getting them to help you. there are lots of videos of people cutting them open so you can see for your self. It is not worth saving a couple of dollars and risking damaging your engine.

The oil filter on your car looks like it would be easy to get to. The oil filter is pointing up and angled. The oil filter on a 1990 Accord is on its side that screws on towards the front of the car. It’s like 90 degrees on its side. Some cars are just like that. It took me over an hour to take the oil filter off when I was doing my oil change. I just had a lot of trouble getting the old filter off just because of that side position.
